‘Josh, the only way things can start over is with
you dead.” My fingers traced a path along his neck. “Looks like you, Lacey, and the little tyke will be family in hell.”
My fingers tightened.
Josh’s eyes widened. “Liv, stop… you can’t do this…” He managed to squeeze out the words, his fingernails digging into my wrist, tearing the skin.
<
“Don’t forget… you’re in my body…”
I laughed again, putting more pressure on his
throat. He was turning blue. I whispered in his
ear, “Honey, don’t worry, I’ll live a good life for
you. You are Baker’s only hope for a future…”
Josh couldn’t finish his sentences. Still trying to
fight.
“You don’t care… Baker family…will end…”
I released him.
Josh crashed to the floor, gasping for air like a fish. Then, he went still.
Tsk, useless.
I really wanted to end him. But he was in my body. I couldn’t kill him. I just wanted to show him how easy it was for me to take his life.

As I left the room, I told Dave: “Triple the
security, and no one is allowed to come near
him.”
In the study, I rubbed my forehead.
I’d been to every top hospital in the city these
past few days. Gotten almost the same
diagnosis everywhere I went.
The birth control chemicals had seeped deep
into the bone marrow, and Josh’s body would
only last for another six months. Was I
supposed to live the rest of my life as Josh?
No!
I would never accept that!
“Sir, there’s a woman insisting on seeing you. She says…she can cure your wife.” Dave interrupted my thoughts.
Lately, a lot of con artists had been trying to
get money that way.
As I was about to refuse, I saw a slim figure in
the garden. My chest throbbed.
I changed my mind without thinking. “Bring her to the sitting room.”
The woman had been looking me up and down
ever since she came in. She must be another
gold digger who fell for Josh’s looks.
I felt a little disappointed.
“Looks like you got used to using that skin.”
She suddenly said, cold and sharp.
My coffee cup crashed to the floor. The
scalding liquid splashed on the back of my
hand, but I didn’t feel it.
I stared at the eyes she was showing me.
<
How could she know? Who was she?

“Liv, how does it feel to be a man?” She smiled
and pulled off her mask.
The diamond necklace around her neck was
dazzling, with a small branch on it.
My breath caught.
That was my sixth birthday present from my dad!
My mind went back to New Year’s Eve when I
was six.
I was separated from my dad. I was scared, and I knelt under the bridge, tears welling up in my eyes. I saw a skinny girl kneeling alone.
In front of her was a thin body on cardboard.
“This is for you.”
<
I took off my diamond necklace and gave it to
her. “My dad said this is worth a lot of money.
Use it for a funeral.”
The wind messed up her hair.
She asked “What is your wish?”
“I want to be a boy.”
I looked up and said “Then I can run the
company with my dad, to protect the Baker
Group.”
I did not expect that these childhood dreams
would come true.
The woman took off the necklace from her
neck.
She handed it over.
The coldness made me shiver.
<
“The System said that souls should not be
swapped to regular people.”
She said.
“I heard you at the car wreck…”
Her voice broke.
