Chapter 3
I hung up the phone and calmly shut down the computer.
“It’s nothing, I talked to Anika about the divorce.”
Edwin’s expression changed, and he almost immediately rushed towards me.
“What divorce? You want to divorce me?”
I took two steps back and replied nonchalantly, “No, it’s just a case. Anika wanted to consult me for advice.”
Edwin finally breathed a sigh of relief and handed me the paper bag,
“For you.”
The pattern on the paper bag was my favorite cake shop.
Before we got married, whenever Edwin made me angry, he would go to this shop and buy me a
cake.
This shop was very popular, and every time I went to buy something, I had to wait in line for two hours.
In order to please me, Edwin would personally go and queue up, no matter if it was windy or rainy, as long as I said I wanted to eat.
Sometimes I felt sorry for him and asked him to hire someone to buy it.
Edwin, however, said, “Ashlee, it’s okay. For you, I was willing.”
With this thought, my heart warmed up and I couldn’t help but smile as I took the paper bag and opened it.
“I didn’t expect you to remember… What is this?”
I looked at Edwin in shock, a wave of bad premonition rising in my heart.
The paper bag contained not the cake I thought, but two pieces of clothing with a hint of alcohol.
One was Edwin’s suit jacket, and the other was the dress Lena wore tonight.
Faced with my questioning, Edwin was rarely a little embarrassed.
“Lona’s clothes got dirty, and I thought since you’re already used to doing housework, washing one
Lo a difference. So I just brought them all back.”

After saying that, he thought of something else and became more confident.
“Anyway, I can just use another Forgiveness Pass, since I still have so many of them, so you don’t have to be so petty.”
All my words were blocked in my mouth by this sentence.
I wanted to tell him.
Edwin, he was no more.
There were 99 Forgiveness Passes, and only the last one remained.
But as the words reached my lips, I simply glanced deeply at Edwin and then stuffed the clothes into the washing machine.
In the past, in order to ensure that his clothes were clean enough, I never used a washing machine. Every time, I would scrub and wash them by hand, little by little.
Looking back now, I was really foolish.
What she thought was virtuous, in Edwin’s eyes, turned out to be a free babysitter.
I chuckled at myself and closed the door as I returned to the bedroom.
Edwin was taken aback when he saw me return so quickly. “So fast? Is it clean? This is Lena’s favorite dress, and I promised her that I would make sure you cleaned it.”
I hummed and started to freshen up.
In the mind, however, I was thinking about which dry cleaning shop could pick up the clothes at
home.
Just as I was thinking, a familiar cellphone ringtone came from outside.
Edwin cautiously glanced at my expression and then retreated to the balcony with his phone.
I quietly followed and happened to hear Lena’s coquetry.
“Mr. Gore, the cake you bought for me was delicious! I had never eaten such a tasty cake before.”
“The waiting time was a bit long, and I felt a little sorry.”
Edwin glanced at the bedroom and indulgently replied, “It’s okay, as long as you want to eat, I will buy it for you anytime.”
“I was willing to serve you wholeheartedly.”

Lena delicately spoke, “Is it not a good idea to have Ms. Owen wash my dress?”
“I didn’t want to make you feel uncomfortable.”
Edwin chuckled lightly, “What’s so difficult? She’s already used to doing it. On the contrary, you, with such beautiful hands, I would feel sorry if you had to do rough work.”
I was stunned for a moment and instinctively looked at my hand.
Because I had been doing household chores for a long time, the skin on my hands had indeed
become rough, no wonder he didn’t find it attractive.
I didn’t want to listen anymore, so I awkwardly escaped into the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, Edwin knocked on the door.
“The company has something to attend to, I have to go there first. You go to bed early.”
I nodded.
Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly spoke up.
“Edwin, if you don’t come back, can I use a Forgiveness Pass?”
I looked at him, with a hint of lingering water shimmer in the corners of my eyes that I hadn’t had
time to wipe away.
Edwin’s footsteps paused, then immediately turned around.
