The only explanation for his hesitation about marriage must be his worries about his family’s poor financial situation–it’s probably just his pride as a man getting in the way. Rose’s face turned pale. She couldn’t bear the thought of her father, who loved her dearly, discovering Ethan had left her for Vivian. He might actually confront Ethan in rage.
Franc, Rose rushed to her room, locked the door, and sent Ethan a trembling message.
“My father is on his way to your house to arrange the proposal. le still doesn’t know about our breakup. If you don’t want to face his wrath, you’d better keep your mouth shut.”
Ethan’s response came quickly, laced with mockery. “Rose, I’ve told you—we’re done. You didn’t tell your parents we broke up because you’re waiting for me to change my mind, aren’t you? Let me make this clear–I won’t get back together with you. I’ve decided to propose to Vivian. If all goes well, we’ll be married soon. Move on
Rose trembled with anger. “Ethan, I’m not clinging to you. I’m worried about my mom’s health. You know she has heart problems and can’t handle shocks. She always treated you like her own son. Could you at least give me more time for her

I’ve seen how shallow you are and couldn’t resist someone else’s genuine kindness. Laccept these gifts because I’ve learned to love myself”

Rose gritted her teeth. “Ethan, don’t think everyone is as shallow as you, Losing a freeloader like you is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
After yelling at Ethan, Rose hung up angrily.

At the same time. Sam arrived at the Walker family’s house, carrying several gift bags. Samantha personally opened the door, her expression a bit awkward when she saw him. “Sam, what brings you here with all this?”
“I heard Ethan is back. Is that right? Where is he? Why hasn’t he come to visit me?” Sam asked, clearly displeased with Ethan’s

Samantha forced a smile and replied. “Oh, he came back mainly to handle some internship arrangements. There’s only six months left until he graduates. We’re hoping he’ll stay in the city afterward to be closer to the family.
Sam looked confused. “He’s studying medicine, the same as Rose. Why didn’t he ask Rose for help? She could talk to her supervisors and help him secure an internship at Crestview Health Institute without any issues.”
Samantha’s tone turned dismissive. “Rose might be able to help him get an internship, but with her low position, she wouldn’t be able to help him secure a permanent

Samantha, however, started to brag. “Thankfully, Ethan used his own connections and has already secured an internship at Crestview. Once it’s done, he’ll transition directly into a permanent role.”
Her remarks about Rose’s lack of influence irritated Sam. “Rose has taken care of your family so attentively that Ethan hasn’t had to worry about anything during his studies. Shouldn’t he, as an adult, find his own job instead of relying on his girlfriend?”
Samantha sneered “Ethan has a PhD, while your Rose only has a master’s degree. Does he really need Rose’s help? If she hadn’t been chasing him relentlessly for years, Ethan wouldn’t have ended up with a girlfriend so far below his standards.”
Sam was livid. “Are you implying that Rose isn’t good enough for Ethan? He doesn’t have a house or a car, and Rose has been supporting him all these years. Now that he’s about to graduate, he wants to turn his back on her and toss her aside?”
Samantha replied indifferently. “So what if she spent a bit of money on him? Don’t worry; once Ethan starts working, he’ll pay her back in full, with interest.
Sam was taken aback. “is that your opinion, or is that what Ethan thinks?”
Samantha hesitated and didn’t answer. Just then, Ethan walked in, and when he saw Sam, his face immediately showed. unease and panic.

Sara’s voice boomed. “Ethan, tell me honestly–are you planning to break up with Rose?”
