Chapter126
Those past experiences told her that being adopted by the
Argent family was a total sugar–coated bullet, and it blew her to
pieces.
She wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
Kieran gave a final warning and said, “Don’t let me see you
selling barbecue with Jaylene again, the Argent family can
afford to support you.”
Alarieka just said, “I don’t want it.”
Kieran felt a sharp pain in his temple, and he raised his hand to
rub his brow and his temples.
The company was really busy during this time. He was so busy
that he left early and came back late, barely had any meals, and
still had to find time to deal with Alarieka. Later, he still had to
rush back to handle company stuff.
Alarieka wouldn’t let it go, and it really got him fired up.
He said coldly, “You had no choice.”
Alarieka sneered and clenched her fists, “Why should

everything go your way? When I say no, it means no. I was
living just fine, I don’t want you controlling me anymore.”
Hearing what she said, Kieran’s face completely darkened.
“What did you say?”
Kieran’s eyes were sharp, staring right at her: “Say that again.”
Just as Alarieka was sticking her neck out to fight back.
Kieran’s phone rang out of nowhere, sounding extra clear in the
dim, tense, and quiet train car.
Kieran’s phone was playing the ringtone from the other
person’s phone, it was a song by a famous singer, really
melancholy and gentle.
That was Roschelle’s phone ringtone.
Alarieka lifted her chin and scoffed, “Then you better hurry up
and answer the phone. If something happened to Ms. Whitaker
because I didn’t pick up in time, you guys would definitely
blame me. I’m not taking the fall for that.”
Kieran gave her a deep look, then quickly answered the phone.
Roschelle’s voice came through the phone, and for a moment,
Alarieka wondered if there was something wrong with her

eyesight.
There were lights on the street, but the light shining into the car
still wasn’t bright enough, but Alarieka could actually see the
gentleness slowly spreading in Kieran’s eyes.
Roschelle’s voice was soft, like she was being cute: “Kier, are you
still working overtime? I want you to come back and be with
me, I can’t sleep.”
Kieran spoke in a low, gentle voice, trying to comfort, “I’ll be
right back, just wait for me.”
Roschelle smiled and said, “Okay, I’ll wait for you. Come back
soon. I also made some mung bean soup.”
Kieran said, “It’s too late, go to bed early, I’ll be back.”
Roschelle said, “No, I don’t want that. You’ve been with me these
days. Without you, I couldn’t fall asleep or sleep well.”
Kieran’s “um” didn’t come out.
Because Alarieka took advantage of the moment when Kieran
and Roschelle were on the phone, pushed the door open, and
slipped out quickly and nimbly.
She heard a low voice behind her: “Alarieka.”

Then there was a burst of chaotic, noisy sounds.
Kieran actually pushed the door open quickly too, not caring
that he was still on the phone with Roschelle, and strode after
Alarieka.

Alarieka heard footsteps getting closer and closer behind her,
and she held her breath.
The next moment, Kieran grabbed her wrist and forced her to
turn back to face him.
Kieran looked gloomy, and the dark mage locked eyes with her,
voice a bit hoarse: “Don’t even think about running.”
Even if Alarieka got caught, she still handled it with ease.
Because Kieran’s other hand was still holding up his phone,
Roschelle’s anxious voice came through.
“Kier, what happened? Was there anyone on your side?”
“Was it Alarieka?!”
Roschelle’s voice almost broke from shouting, and even
Alarieka could hear how desperate she was.
Kieran grunted, “It was her.”
Chapter126
Roschelle was quiet for a moment, then when she spoke again,
her voice suddenly sounded weak.
“Oh, so it was Alarieka. Kier, say hi to her for me.”
“Kier, could you come back soon? I felt really awful.”
Kieran looked tense, his brows furrowed. His voice was low and
hoarse, “What’s wrong?”
Roschelle sniffled and said, “The kid suddenly got really fussy. I
felt a bit sick and wanted to throw up.”
“Otherwise, you could give the phone to Alarieka, I would talk
to her, she would definitely understand.”
Alarieka watched Kieran calmly.
Kieran looked at her for a few seconds, let go of her hand, and
said quietly to the person on the phone, “No need, I’ll come back
right now.”
When she hung up the phone, Alarieka also took a step back
and looked at Kieran from a distance, the corners of her mouth
curling up.
Kieran put away his phone, “The house was in Building Three-”
Alarieka interrupted, “No need to say, I don’t need to know!”
