Chapter 4
I couldn’t believe what was happening and desperately shook my head:[]
“Knox, I didn’t do anything! You can’t do this to me!“]]
He refused to listen and simply ordered the bodyguards to begin.]
Brutal punches landed on my body, especially on my abdomen,[]
While Knox stood watching from above, without a trace of compassion in his eyes.
Soon, an intense pain shot through my lower abdomen. I felt liquid flowing continuously beneath me. As an OB–GYN, I knew with certainty:
The baby couldn’t be saved.[]
Along with it, my last illusion about our relationship disappeared.]]
But the punches didn’t stop. The pain was so severe my vision darkened, and I pleaded brokenly:]
“Knox… my belly hurts so much… stop…“]
Yet he just gave me a cold look, his voice utterly detached:
“Still acting?”
“Anyone would think YOU were pregnant too!“[]
Only when my white dress was soaked in blood did Knox realize something was wrong. He ordered his bodyguards to take me to the hospital.
Before losing consciousness, I saw my colleagues frantically trying to stop the bleeding. With my last bit of strength, I said:
“Don’t tell anyone I was pregnant.”
Then I closed my eyes peacefully.
When I woke up, I learned I had been unconscious for two days. My colleagues had stayed by my side the entire time.
Knox never appeared once.
I searched everywhere but couldn’t find my phone or my mother’s keepsake. Assuming they were at home, I hurried back.[]
When I opened the door, I saw Skylar wearing lingerie, moving up and down on Knox’s lap. Dozens of condom wrappers were scattered across the floor.
Seeing me, she let out a startled “Ah!” and quickly grabbed a robe to cover herself.
Knox stopped abruptly, looking at me with annoyance: “Why are you back?”
I replied expressionlessly: “Just came to get something. I’ll leave right-“0

Before I could finish, I noticed the necklace around Skylar’s neck and froze.
It was the only keepsake my mother had left me.[]
Five years ago, she had an accident at sea. Her body was never recovered, and this necklace was all I had left.]
Knox knew perfectly well what it meant to me. Yet now, he had given it to another woman, who was wearing it with lingerie…[
Noticing my pained gaze, Skylar looked triumphant:[]
“Reagan, Knox said this necklace has a beautiful luster that perfectly complements my snow–white skin.“[]
“Don’t you think so?”
I quickly walked up to her, trembling as I said:[]
“Give it back to me!“]
Skylar clutched the necklace tightly: “Reagan, are you really that petty? Do you have to take away everything Knox gives me?“[]
When she refused, I reached for it, but before I could touch it, Knox kicked me hard in the abdomen.]
“Reagan, have you lost your fucking mind?!”
“It’s just a worthless necklace! And you dare to get physical with her!”
The recently stitched wound tore open again, but I ignored the pain, desperate to get the necklace back.
Knox gave me no chance. He yanked the necklace off and held it over the window, facing the deep ocean below.
My pupils constricted in terror as I begged:
“Please, DON’T-“]
The next second, the necklace fell from his hand, disappearing into the vast sea.
“Now let’s see you try to get it back!”
- ea.
With that, Knox took Skylar to the bedroom, and moans soon echoed from inside.
I jumped from the balcony. The seawater quickly engulfed me, cutting off my breath. Just as I thought I would soon join my mother, a powerful force pulled me upward.
“Reagan, don’t you fucking dare die on me!“]
“You still need to take responsibility for me! You even crossed your heart! Please, don’t leave me!”
Later, Targe tears burned my skin.
“Reagan! Don’t you dare to break your promise. You can’t leave me alone. If you do, I’ll haunt you even as a
ghost!”
My chest was forcefully compressed, and I suddenly coughed up seawater, breathing deeply. I managed to say: “Carter, take me away…“]
Chapter 4
Two days later, Knox got out of Skylar’s bed and called my name throughout the villa, but received no response.
Just as he was wondering where I was, the property manager rushed in:
“Mr. Knox! They found a woman’s body by the shore–it’s YOUR WIFE!“]
