Chapter 108
Even after a fight, the man’s suit jacket remained perfectly unruffled, his appearance strikingly elegant. The bruise on his chin only made him look like a fallen, otherworldly beauty.
‘And you stopped us not because of him. I’m very happy about that.”
His refined features curved into a smile.}
I didn’t dare meet his eyes for a moment. I just applied the medicine in a fluster, which made him chuckle softly again.}
Inside the luxurious Cayenne, Thayer sat in silence, his eyes dark and deep, his entire figure like a sculpture.
He hated me, a lowly maid who dared to scheme against the Alcott Family. He hated me even more for hastening his grandfather’s death.
And yet, when I lost the child, why had he still rushed to my home without a second thought?”
Thayer glanced at the gentle and delicate Aveline beside him, but the heavy weight in his chest only deepened.>>
There were plenty of women who matched his taste, plenty who could bear him children. So why was he still compelled to go back to
me?
Supported by Aveline, Thayer returned home. The family doctor had been waiting at the door for a while. Upon seeing him, he immediately stepped forward to treat the injuries on his body.”
Aveline stood beside him, crying like a pear blossom bathed in rain. The sight made his lower abdomen stir with heat. Even though he was still in pain, he couldn’t control the urge to take Aveline to bed.
But in a flash, my image crossed his mind and that fiery desire quickly faded.
As soon as the doctor left, Aveline took off her clothes and pressed her body against his. His lower abdomen instantly tensed and he pulled her forcefully into his arms, carrying her straight upstairs.>
Clothes were scattered messily on the floor, evidence of an especially intense battle.
Thayer poured sweat over the woman beneath him with all his effort, the unease in his heart gradually fading.”
“Aveline, give me a few more children, will you?“}
His voice was hoarse as he relentlessly ravaged the woman beneath him. It wasn’t until late into the night that the man finally fell into a deep sleep.
The exhausted and pitiful Aveline propped herself up, placed the divorce agreement Althea had sent on the most prominent spot of the table and only then contentedly curled up in the arms of the man in front of her, falling into a deep sleep.
The next morning, after washing up, Thayer saw the divorce agreement on the dining table. His previously relaxed mood immediately tightened again.
Aveline, ever considerate, served Thayer his meal. She glanced “casually” at the agreement on the table and asked with a hint of curiosity in her voice, “Thayer, what’s this? You’re looking at it so seriously…”
“It’s nothing. Just a proposal from a subordinate–poorly written.“}
The man raised his hand and tossed the contract into the trash can. Then, looking at Aveline’s belly, he forced a faint smile.
“You’re still pregnant, so I had the maid make some nourishing porridge for you. Sit down and have some.“}
Thayer looked at the woman who had grown more plump by the day. He gently stroked her hair and personally handed her a bowl of medicinal porridge.}
Seeing her shy expression, a wicked fire stirred in his heart again, but he forcibly suppressed it.
Aveline hid the heavy thoughts in her heart and slowly sipped the porridge.
It wasn’t until Thayer left for the company that she finally picked up her phone and made a call, her eyes filled with barely concealed resentment.
“Dad, make sure to help that woman properly.“>
As Friday’s court hearing approached, Thayer’s phone was flooded with calls from Lucien. He had taken on my case and kept reminding
him not to miss it.
The woman he used to hate the most hadn’t contacted him again and as the phone rang incessantly in his ear, Thayer’s brows furrowed deeper and deeper.
With a loud bang, the phone was flung toward the door, landing right by Aveline’s feet just as she pushed it open and entered.”
The man who once couldn’t bear to see her suffer even the slightest grievance was now lowering his gaze, lost in thought. Even when she tentatively stepped further into the office, the sound of her high heels was the only thing that drew his attention.”
“Thayer, you’re being so cold to me today… I’m scared… And you hurt me when you threw that!”
Aveline tugged up her dress, revealing a red scratch on her fair, tender leg.
