Nathan listened in silence,but his eyes grew colder with every sentence.He suddenly cut Alicia’s self–crafted fantasy and said bluntly, Alicia you remember that incident when you had an early period. You remembered my word and yet had you actually forgotten the person who took off their jacket and tied it around your waist?”
Alicia froze her face draining of color.
“It was Laurissa Smith.“Nathan’s tone was unforgiving.“She’s the one who sent you to the bathroom,scolded the boys who made trouble for you,stood up in front of you and scolded the entire class to shut up.l,on the other hand,was just passing by and said shut up’in passing.”
Alicia’s lips trembled,trying to form a word but failed to do so.
You said you liked me?“Nathan sneered, “You like the me you’ve made up in your head.”

The hospital room fell silent,leaving Alicia gasping for air. She looked as if she had just lost her whole world and couldn’t stand still.

Tears streamed down Alicia’s cheeks,her voice breaking.“I,I really loved you…”
Nathan,however,closed his eyes,like he didn’t want to hear or look at her anymore. Then Nathan said,” Get out!l never want to see you again.”
Alicia swayed on her feet for a while,then she stumbled out the door and slammed it shut,taking away the last shred of her dignity.
The air in the hospital corridor was bone–chillingly cold.

Nathan staggered along the corridor to the intensive care unit. Although his hand was still wrapped in gauze and the wound on his forehead had already scabbed over,his face was as pale as paper. His eyes were hollow,as if it took every ounce of his being to drag this broken body forward.
When he finally reached his destination, he took a deep breath and gently knocked on the door.
A servant’s whispered response came from inside and pushed open the door.
His grandmother lay propped up against the headboard,her complexion ghostly pale. The oxygen tubes still clung to her nose.
When she opened her eyes and saw Nathan,she didn’t even raise her eyelids and only said faintly, “What are you doing here.
Nathan bowed his head,like a child who has done something wrong. His words choked in his throat,” Grandma…I was wrong.”
