Leander’s words stunned everyone present.
Who exactly was he?
Xander, still riding high on arrogance, didn’t take him seriously at all. He waved a hand impatiently and barked, “Take this punk out. I don’t care who he is–never seen him before, and he dares to shout at me?“”
He was just about to approach when Dr. White’s voice cut through the air, low and sharp:
“Xander, since when did you dare defy my words?“}
Xander’s expression faltered. He squinted at Leander, studying his face more closely. Slowly, the color drained from his skin. Then–with a loud thud–he dropped to his knees, trembling.
“P–President White… I… I didn’t recognize you!“}
President White?}
The crowd collectively gasped.”
Everyone had heard of the elusive head of the White Group–one of the top fifty global conglomerates and a name that reigned over Yancheng’s financial world. It was said he moved like a dragon in the shadows, rarely seen but always felt.
I stared at Leander startled. I knew he had some influence, but I hadn’t imagined his power reached such terrifying heights.
He glanced sideways at me and raised an eyebrow. “What? Are you scared now?“}
I shook my head. “What does it matter to a ‘mental patient‘ like me?”
A flurry of nervous whispers filled the room.
“He’s the Mr. White? The one who vanished from the public eye?”
“I insulted him earlier–I’m done for!“}
“He said none of those who bullied her would escape. Does that mean… we’re all targets?“}
“Mr. White please, spare me! I didn’t mean to offend you–I was misled!“>
Cries of apology rang out from all directions, but Leander didn’t spare them a glance. His eyes were fixed on me.
“It’s all taken care of,” he said calmly. “Now, can we have dinner together?”
I tucked away the short stick and nodded silently. The goal was achieved–the Weber Family was shattered, and my revenge complete.
As for Diane… her end was fitting. Her once–pretty face was clawed beyond recognition. Her eyes, gouged out, left two black holes on her face. She was locked in a basement, fed pig slop, her limbs broken. Now, she crawled like a worm on the cold ground.
The Weber Family was crushed under Dr. White’s heel. Some had bones broken; others barely clung to life. Andrew was stripped of power, cast out from the very empire he once ruled.
Diane tried to report me to the police, but no charges were filed. After all, I was officially certified as mentally ill. The case was dropped.
I looked down at the medical certificate Leander had secured for me. “Mentally ill“-what a peaceful label. No one expects sanity from
the mad.
When night fell, I often spotted a shadowy figure lingering near the woods beyond the window.
It was Andrew.}
After being ousted, he became a fugitive, constantly hunted by Leander’s men. And yet, he still came, looking up at my window like a ghost unable to move on?
He thought of our old days–how smooth everything used to be. His business thrived, problems solved themselves, and even his subordinates were strangely loyal. Back then, he thought it was all his own doing.
He never realized it was me, quietly holding it all together.”
He hadn’t appreciated my obedience. Success made him crave excitement. That’s when Diane, his long–lost first love, reappeared.}}
Did he love her? He wasn’t sure. But he was sure of one thing–he had been proud when he saw me hurt. Rumors that he’d climbed to power on the back of a woman’s sacrifice wounded his pride. So, he chose to destroy me to reclaim his ego.
It hadn’t been Diane’s idea alone to send me to that asylum. Andrew had wanted it. Deep down, he’d hoped I’d vanish forever.
He knew I loved him, and because of that, he looked down on me.”
And now? Now he understood.
He saw me in that wedding dress–walking toward him just as he had once dreamed–and he realized too late what he had lost.”
But he was a coward. He hadn’t dared admit it. And now, he paid the price.}
With nowhere to run, pursued on all sides, Andrew stopped resisting. He stood alone under the moonlight, clutching something in his hand–a small golden lock, the one I wore back when he first found me in the snow.
I hated winter, so I had named myself Sunny Geneva-“summer.“}
And that cold night, years ago, when he picked me up, I had looked at him with wide, tearful eyes. That moment had stayed with him.
Diane could never compare.
He held onto that memory as the final blade slid into his chest.
As he fell into a pool of his own blood, he clutched the golden lock with the last of his strength, smiling faintly at the sight of a warm light behind my window.

Yes, he had done countless terrible things. But if there was one thing in his life he got right–it was picking me up in that heavy snow.
Too bad he didn’t know how to cherish me.
Still, it didn’t matter anymore.”
Because someone better would love me in his place.
I walked to the window and drew the curtains. Just as I was about to glance outside again, Leander appeared beside me.
“What are you looking at? Go to sleep.”
I arched an eyebrow. “Since when does Dr. White manage bedtime, too?”
“You’re a patient,” he said with a smirk. “And I’m your doctor.“”
