Chapter 7

Lucien’s eyes darkened the moment he saw the deep bite mark on Lilith’s arm.

But instead of punishing me, he turned his fury on her. “Didn’t I tell you? No one-no one but me-is allowed to step into

this room.”

Lilith froze, stunned-then tears welled up in her eyes like she’d been struck.

“I’m sorry, Lucien, I just… I know you’ve been feeding Celeste your blood for days. I was just worried about you…”

She bit down on her lower lip, trembling like a scorned lover. “If you never give me the Embrace… will I end up like her? Will

I become a Feral too?”

Lucien looked at me then-his expression torn, troubled, unreadable. But after a brief pause, he offered his wrist to Lilith

without hesitation.

The daughter of vampire slayers, should have been mortal enemies with the Crimson.

Yet now she accepted this blessing gratefully, greedily and contentedly feeding on Lucien’s blood.

Lucien’s crimson lips grew somewhat pale.

He didn’t have enough blood to sustain us both.

Seeing Lilith drink without restraint, he pulled his hand back, jaw tight. “From now on, you don’t step foot in this room

unless I say so.”

Lilith left. Lucien turned back to me, his face lined with guilt and exhaustion. “Celeste…”

But no matter how he called me, I simply tilted my head and stared at him blankly-analyzing his power in silence.

Among vampires, one could devour another and power could be stolen. If you drained another vampire to the last drop,

their abilities became yours.

That was why Ferals, stripped of reason, were either enslaved or exterminated. They were monsters. Tools. Garbage.

Maybe the way I looked at him-like prey-was too honest, too devoid of warmth.

Pain flashed in his eyes. Still, he gently brushed his fingers against my cheek. “It’s almost the seventh day. Please,

Celeste… I know you’ll wake up. You’ll remember everything.”

The next day, Lilith burst into the master bedroom, brimming with excitement.

Lucien was holding me when his voice snapped like a whip. “I told you-do not enter this room without permission.”

But the moment he looked at her eyes, glowing a bright crimson, he paused. “You completed your transformation… that

fast?”

Normally, it took seven full days to complete the process.

The faster the transformation, the more powerful the vampire.

Only Ferals turn mere killing machines-forever lose their humanity, no memory, no ability.

But Lilith smiled sweetly. “Lucien, I was personally turned by you, a pureblood prince. And I’ve nherited one of your gifts –

the power to command puppets.”

Most vampires only inherited a single ability. But Lucien was different.

As a pureblood, he carried dozens. And vampires he transformed would inherit one of his abilities.

Even he didn’t expect Lilith to be so lucky, nheriting his most dangerous and powerful trump card…

“I never expected a mix of hunter and vampire blood would produce such strength.”

He looked at her with something softer than before. “Tomorrow night I’ll host a gathering. The Court will be there. You’ll be formally introduced as one of us. You’ll have your place among the nobility.”

Lilith’s expression shifted-glee barely restrained. She glanced at me, eyes glinting with cold amusement, then turned

back to Lucien with a practiced smile. “Thank you, Lucien I’m sure tomorrow’s celebration will be… unforgettable.”
