Chapter 6
As soon as the words fell, the room fell into silence.
Martin frowned for a moment, feeling a bit annoyed, and pressed his brow, “Don’t joke with me.”
Joke?
Evelyn gazed at the handsome man in front of her for a long time, her heart filled with bitterness.
She had been his secretary for five years and was familiar with his every move.
She remembered the despair of that drunken night, as well as the sincerity of his proposal and the smile on their child’s
face when they were born in a past life.
Every little thing made her believe that their marriage was a little bit of love.
Until Isabel’s appearance, all her fantasies were’ shattered…
Evelyn’s eyes turned red, and an inexplicable sadness engulfed her entire body. A surge of unwillingness washed over her
as she suddenly asked.
“Martin, do you know that I liked you?”
Martin was stunned.
He stared straight into Evelyn’s red eyes, and after a while, he averted his gaze and said lightly, “If I had known about this, I
wouldn’t have married you.”
My heart felt as if it had been forcefully hollowed out, and the intense pain spread.
Getting the expected answer, Evelyn could no longer hold her composure and a tear welled up in her eyes.
The woman’s despair, with tears in her eyes, was so intense that it almost drowned her.
Martin hesitated for a moment. The unfamiliar affection made him want to avoid it.
“I had something else to do, you rest well.”
Saying that, he stood up and was about to leave.
Seeing that he wanted to leave, Evelyn took a step forward and grabbed him, stubbornly wanting an answer.
“You told me, when you proposed to me, you really didn’t have the slightest liking for me?”
Martin lowered his gaze and cruelly pulled away, ignoring her tightly clenched hand.
“You were still pregnant, so think carefully about the divorce.”
He left home, leaving behind these words.
The hour hand gradually moved towards twelve o’clock.

Evelyn sat at the table.
She finally moved when the phone rang over and over again.
Looking at the name of her mother on the screen, she struggled for a moment with her eyes closed and then answered
the call.
“Evelyn, your brother is getting married. The Jade Garden neighborhood is nice. Hurry and ask Mr. Wilson to send more
money!”
Listening to her mother’s casual tone, Evelyn didn’t even have the strength to get angry.
He simply said, “I had no money.”
“What, no money? Evelyn! Don’t think that just because you’ve married into a wealthy family, you’ll automatically become successful. In the end, you’ll still have to rely on your brother to support you…”
“I won’t give it to you. We are getting divorced, and you better throw up everything you have eaten before,” Evelyn couldn’t
stand it anymore and interrupted directly.
“What! What on earth happened! Did Martin have a mistress outside!”
The phone on the other end of the line erupted with a deafening exclamation, and then the conversation took a sudden
turn.
“Rich people are not all like this, you have his seed in your belly! You are also disappointing, having a child but still unable
to hold onto a man’s heart. It’s time to make some money while you haven’t given birth yet, that’s the real deal,
understand?”
Evelyn laughed silently, tears fell once again, and her hand weakly let go of the phone, which slipped to the ground.
With a bang, it shattered her last glimmer of hope.
She didn’t understand how she had managed to persevere for those ten years in her past life.
But she knew that if given a chance to relive her life, she didn’t want to go through those days again.
The next day.
Evelyn had just arrived at the company, but she felt strange gazes closely following her.
A faint sound drifted over.
“You didn’t hear it, but that slap was really loud.”
Evelyn’s footsteps came to a halt.
“Yeah, if I were her, I wouldn’t have the face to stay in the company.”
“Stop talking about it. She has suffered enough, not only did she have her peach plucked by the president’s mistress, but
she also got slapped for no reason…”

Words of sympathy are more pitiful than mockery.
Evelyn forced a smile, clutching her bag tightly, and left unsteadily.
After taking a seat, Isabel walked over.
She put down the document and said softly, “Ms. Gomez, this is Jenny’s disciplinary notice. She will have half a month’s salary deducted. Please sign it.”
Evelyn gave her a cold look and said, “I couldn’t sign it, you should let Mr. Wilson sign it.”
Isabel laughed again, her meaning unclear, “Okay, Ms. Gomez.”
Then she walked briskly into the president’s office.
After a while, Martin and Isabel walked out side by side, unaware of what they were saying, with an intimate posture.
Just at that moment, there was suddenly a noise at the elevator entrance.
Evelyn chased out of the door, shocked.
Her mother, in a fit of anger, stormed forward and slapped Isabel with a loud “smack”!
“You, the vixen, seduced my son-in-law, shameless little slut!”
Evelyn’s face immediately changed, and she stepped forward to grab her, saying, “Mom, what are you doing?!”
“Useless thing.”
Evelyn’s mother, however, pushed her hand away and went forward to grab Martin.
“Son-in-law, I came here today to demand an explanation. My daughter was carrying your child, yet you were flirting with this vixen. If you don’t get rid of this vixen today, this matter won’t be over!”
This earth-shattering news resounded in the sky like thunder.
Everyone at present looked at each other in disbelief, their faces full of incredulity.
Mr. Wilson and Ms. Gomez! Were they married?!
