Evelyn could hardly believe what she heard, “Why?”

Martin did not answer, but continued, “The follow-up work will be reported by Isabel, and you will temporarily assume the position of secretary training.”

With that, he raised his gaze, indicating that Evelyn could leave.

Without any explanation, she had to hand over her achievements to someone.

Evelyn felt a surge of anger rise to her head. “Why! I have worked hard for over a year for this project, putting in so much effort, why should Isabel be given it as soon as she arrives?!”

Martin looked up at her with a hint of surprise.

For the past five years, it was the first time he had seen Evelyn so angry.

In an instant of astonishment, he furrowed his brows and said in a deep voice, “I know you are driven by self-interest, the manager position will be given to you, but for this project, Isabel is more suitable than you.”

His words, which he took for granted, caused a sharp pain in Evelyn’s heart, so painful that she couldn’t even open her

mouth.

At this moment, Martin softened his tone and said, “You don’t have the energy to keep up now, and you should pay more attention to rest. The chairman of the Caster family and the Star Group are old friends, so she is the most suitable person to follow up.”

Evelyn’s eyes turned red in an instant, and her tone became more aggressive, “Without Isabel, the project would only be

left with the final touches. You say you have no ulterior motives? You are being biased, wanting her to take credit for this!”

“Evelyn!” Martin’s face changed.

Evelyn looked at him with red eyes, unwilling.

Martin coldly said, “You were being emotional right now, and even if you take on this project, I doubt your ability to handle

the position of a manager.”

“This is a company, not a place for arguments.”

Upon hearing these words, Evelyn felt as if her heart had been squeezed, and she could barely catch her breath.

She angrily turned and walked away.

The more I walked, the more grievances surged up.

Her more than a year of effort, countless times of working overtime and staying up late, and the forced socializing at dinner parties…

And in exchange, Martin uttered a sentence driven by utilitarianism and emotional impulsiveness!

As she was walking, a wave of nausea surged up her throat, and Evelyn quickly covered her mouth and rushed towards

the restroom.

I could lie on the washstand, wanting to vomit but unable to do so, choking and feeling extremely uncomfortable.

Evelyn took a while to recover before weakly getting up.

Her haggard face appeared in the mirror. These days of pregnancy, instead of gaining weight, she had actually lost weight,

and now she looked extremely disheveled.

We can’t go on like this anymore. In the previous life, she had a difficult childbirth due to her poor health, so she needs to

take good care of her pregnancy.

Just bear with it a little longer, once she gives birth to the child, she will file for divorce.

Evelyn perked up and returned to her workstation.

Then Isabel walked over confidently and said, “Ms. Gomez, Mr. Wilson asked me to take charge of the project.”

Evelyn coldly placed the documents on the table, saying, “Everything is here, you won’t ask me again.”

“Thank you, Ms. Gomez did a really thorough job.”

Isabel laughed even more brightly, while Evelyn took several deep breaths to suppress the stifling feeling in her chest.

From that day on, Evelyn began to consciously distance herself from Martin. They lived under the same roof, but they

never looked up or spoke more than ten sentences to each other every day.

And so, a month passed coldly and indifferently.

That day after work, Jenny accompanied Evelyn to wait for the elevator and received a message, feeling somewhat

surprised.

“Evelyn, today the Star Group’s project signed a contract, they mentioned having a dinner.”

Evelyn’s heart sank, “Is that so?”

She took out her phone, and no one notified her.

She watched silently, expressionless, and then chuckled before putting it into her bag.

Jenny, seeing the situation, exclaimed in surprise, “Didn’t I call you?”

Seeing Evelyn not saying a word, she immediately got so angry that her nose almost twisted, “I really can’t believe it, you’ve been busy all year, giving credit to others is one thing, but you can’t even have a meal…”

At this moment, there was a “ding” sound.

The elevator opened.

The place was filled with a crowd, with Martin and Isabel at the forefront.

Jenny’s voice echoed around, “…can’t even have a meal, it’s really heartless!”

Everyone looked at each other in surprise.

The atmosphere was extremely awkward.

But it was Isabel who first spoke with a smile, “Ms. Gomez, oh no, you were pregnant, why did you get off work so late?”

Her genuine concern was evident in her expression, but the casual change of address unintentionally grated on Evelyn’s ears, causing her face to turn pale and her body to stagger.

Martin stepped forward, as if to help her.

Evelyn steadied herself and took a step back to avoid it, “Thank you for your concern, I won’t disturb your dinner, I’ll leave

first.”

After saying that, he turned around and left.

Martin’s expression darkened as he watched Evelyn’s back, which was avoiding him like the plague.

In the evening, Martin came back and neither of them said a word.

The next day.

Evelyn was tidying up the documents when she heard a commotion coming from the entrance of the President’s Office.

She walked to the door in confusion and was surprised to see a crowd gathered around Martin and Isabel, arguing about

something.

Walking up to Martin, Evelyn asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong?”

Martin turned his head, about to speak, but was interrupted.

The leading woman shouted angrily, “Here comes another one, Mr. Wilson. Tell me, is she the one in charge, or is she?”

While speaking, he pointed at Evelyn and Isabel.

Martin suppressed his anger and turned his head towards Evelyn, saying, “It was her, but…”

The conversation was not finished when, in the next second, there was a “crack” sound.

A scorching slap was slapped on Evelyn’s face!
