In the middle of the night, David unexpectedly knocked on my door.
His expression was relaxed, and he spoke gently without any prompting. “I heard about what happened today. Celine, you were the one who hurt Kelly first.”
I stayed indifferent and responded flatly, “There’s no need for you to seek justice for Kelly. Owen already made me apologize.”
Noticing that I no longer used just his first name, David’s eyes briefly widened in surprise. As he looked at my composed expression, he softened a bit.
“Owen is still young. Why hold a grudge against him? After all, Kelly raised him for eight years in your place. Even if she hasn’t achieved much, she’s certainly made an effort…”
“That’s enough!”
I snapped in a low voice, interrupting him. “Do you think I don’t want to take care of my own child? Is there anything else you need? I need to get some rest.”
David, noticing my demeanor, responded with irritation.
“Celine, Kelly has done a lot for you, and she’s my wife now. You can’t be upset with her! She’s worn out today. Kelly really enjoys your spaghetti. Since you’re here, why don’t you make her a plate?”
He straightforwardly gave me the order and then turned away.
I clenched my fists so tightly that my nails pressed into my palms as I

After standing in a daze for a while, I made my way to the kitchen. Once I finished cooking and they still hadn’t come down, I decided not to wait any longer and returned to my room.
As I passed the master bedroom, I heard suggestive splashing and panting coming from inside. The noises subsided after a low growl.
Kelly held onto David’s neck tightly, pretending to be anxious. “David, why did Celine wake up? Did our medication fail? What if she finds out we deliberately kept her in a coma?”
“Don’t worry. I was cautious. She won’t be able to trace it back to us…
I stood frozen, a cold dread seeping into my bones as horrific memories resurfaced, filled with blood and screams.
During the hemorrhage, I clutched David’s hand with fear, my face pale, gasping, “David, it hurts… save me…
His eyes turned red as he promised, “Celine, believe me. I’ll make sure nothing harms you.”
He shouted at the doctor, “Do whatever is necessary. Please save my Celine!”
It turned out that the person I trusted the most was the true executioner.
Kelly chuckled, then feigned concern, “Are we being too hard on her?”
David frowned and replied firmly, “Absolutely not.
“Celine made you go drag–racing for excitement while she was in labor. How could someone like that properly raise my child or prepare a suitable heir for the Kilbreth family? It’s best if she remains comatose, and we leave Owen with you. I can only find peace in that decision.”

I stood there in shock, my heart, already cold, dropping further into despair.
With trembling hands, I opened the door.
David started in shock, swiftly pulling the quilt over Kelly. His expression turned stormy, anger rising.
“Celine, have you forgotten how to knock? You’re still just a country bumpkin–no manners, no class.”
J’A country bumpkin?”

It seemed David had conveniently forgotten that this “country bumpkin” gathered every cent to support his company’s launch.
This “country bumpkin” was also the one who saved him from drowning when his business failed.
As though splashed with cold water, I suddenly composed myself and calmly stated, “The spaghetti is ready.”
Ignoring David’s softened gaze, I turned away and exited the room.
Once back in the small, stifling storage area, I sank to the floor, overtaken by a sudden chill that sent shivers throughout my body.
I called Sophie Piceari, Kelly’s declared enemy.
“Ms. Piceari, how about a deal? I’ll help you take down the Kilbreth family and Kelly. In exchange, get me out of here.”
