I struggled to sit up, but was stopped by a young male voice. “Don’t move. You’ve just been rescued from severe hemorrhaging–you need to rest.”
The man’s face showed unmistakable concern as he gently pressed me back down. He was strikingly handsome, with chiseled features and deep blue eyes that resembled those of the most ancient and elegant European nobility.
I stared blankly at this suddenly appearing stranger. Who… was he?
The man seemed to sense my confusion. With a sigh, his eyes reflected guilt and
affection. “May I call you Wen? I… I’m your brother.”
Brother? The term felt strangely foreign, and disbelief welled up inside me. Seeing my expression, the pain in the man’s face became more evident. Even his eyes reddened, as if he had countless things to tell me. “I’m sorry, Wen. Your
brother arrived too late. You’re not an orphan—you have a family…”
From his words, I pieced together what had happened years ago. He was my biological brother, Xavier. On the day of my birth, my parents‘ enemies set fire to the hospital. My brother was young then, and my mother, weakened from childbirth, couldn’t respond quickly enough. This led to my being lost in the chaos. They had searched for me for many years. It was only yesterday, when I was hemorrhaging at the hospital with my rare blood type, that they finally found me. So… I wasn’t abandoned. I had a family–even family members who loved me
deeply.
It all felt like a dream. I could hardly believe it. “Are you… really my brother?” My voice was hoarse, like a broken accordion, filled with uncertainty. Xavier took my hand and nodded firmly. “Yes, Wendy, I’m your brother. Mom and Dad will be here soon. Once you’re feeling better, we’ll take you home.”
“From now on, you’ll never be alone again.”
These words shone like a beam of light into my heart. Xavier arranged for someone to take special care of me and thoughtfully brought me a new phone. The moment I turned it on, news of Tyler and Sophia’s “wedding of the century” appeared. Sophia was wearing the wedding dress I had designed, standing beside

my husband.

In the photos, Tyler gazed at her with such tenderness, as if Sophia were his entire world. Everyone was celebrating their wedding.
Yet no one remembered he still had a wife, and… a child who never got to see this
world.
My heart began to ache unbearably, causing my entire body to convulse.
Just then, the neighbor who had brought me to the hospital walked in, her face full of sympathy. “Wendy, Tyler is looking for you.”
She handed me her phone. On the other end, Tyler’s voice was ice–cold and furious. “You’ve really developed quite an attitude–not only putting on an act but daring to run away from home?”
Listening to his voice, my already shattered heart ached even more.
Seeing I wouldn’t speak, Tyler grew angrier. “Sophia is still worried about you, and this is how you act as a wife and mother? Wendy, I’m giving you half an hour to get back home, or don’t bother coming back at all!”
In that moment, I suddenly felt endless exhaustion. So I spoke: “Tyler, let’s get
divorced.”
I was willing to let him be with Sophia.
There was a sudden pause on the other end. After a long moment, Tyler
responded with disbelief, “What did you say?! You want to divorce me? Wendy, have you lost your mind?!”
Just as he finished speaking, Xavier pushed open the door. “Wendy, who are you talking to?”
Xavier’s words were like a stone thrown into water, creating thousands of ripples. “Who’s speaking? Wendy, where are you? Who’s that man with you? You want a divorce because of him, don’t you—”
Before he could finish, I hung up and apologized to my neighbor. “I’m sorry for troubling you. Thank you for bringing me to the hospital.”
She waved dismissively, her tone full of sympathy. “This is your private matter,

given everything, divorce might be for the best.”
She hurriedly left, leaving just Xavier and me.

Xavier comforted me softly, “It’s okay, Wen. You have support now. Whatever you want to do, your brother will help you. Get some more rest–I’ll find the doctor and see when you can be discharged.”
I nodded firmly, watching Xavier’s retreating figure with growing warmth in my
heart.
What I didn’t expect was how quickly Tyler would act. Soon after, he found my hospital room, with Sophia following behind.
His expression was furious as he reached to grab me from the bed. “Where’s that
man?!”
“You dare to cheat and keep another man? Wendy, I’ve been too lenient with you. Today I’m going to teach you a proper lesson!”
“Who are you going to teach a lesson?” The door was kicked open with a loud bang, followed by a fist that smashed into Tyler’s face.
