Chapter 11
О
Flara had damaged her womb to save him, and he had sworn to treat her well, to live child free for life.
Who could have imagined that before a lifetime was over, they would already be separated by death?
Lo maintained that position all night. He had made up his mind–Elara’s parents were abroad and the airline couldn’t reach them, but if he could
get people to handle it, he could definitely claim Elara’s remains. He would hold a funeral for her first. He wouldn’t want Marla’s child either. He would spend his life with Elara.
After thinking it through. Leander left his room. The butler hurried up to him.
“Mr. Everhart, you’re finally out. Miss Marla is in trouble!”
“What?” Leander frowned, not particularly wanting to hear such news right now.
“Miss Marla has gone into premature labor and is hospitalized! The old master wants you to go there immediately!”
Leander paused for a moment, then headed to the hospital.
As soon as he arrived, he saw Marla lying in the ICU, moaning, while his parents paced anxiously outside.
“I told you Elara was no good! Even in death, she has to upset Marla! It’s bad enough she couldn’t have children herself–what’s the point of constantly targeting Marla!” his mother lamented.
The fact that Elara had damaged her womb to save him had never been told to the Everhart family. Now Leander didn’t want them to wrongly accuse Elara anymore.
He said in a low voice, “About the child, Elara was previously because…”

A doctor suddenly emerged from the ICU, interrupting him: “Who are the family members of the patient? The pregnant woman is fine, no need to worry. She can be discharged today!”
The doctor turned away muttering, “What kind of family members are these? The pregnant woman is perfectly fine, yet they sent her straight to the ICU. wasting resources.”
These words reached Leander’s ears. He stopped his movement to join his parents in receiving Marla, turned around suspiciously, and called out to the doctor.
“What did you just say?”
The doctor was startled: “You’re the family member, right? The pregnant woman is perfectly fine. Don’t make such a big fuss next time!”
After saying this, the doctor went off to other wards. Leander looked through the glass at Marla’s weakly smiling face, and a bold suspicion formed in his mind.
He called over the butler: “Go investigate all the previous incidents. Every single one.”
When he said this, he forcibly controlled lumself to keep his voice from trembling.
With his parents taking care of her, Marla was quickly discharged and went home. Leander didn’t go back–he didn’t want to see anyone right now, especially not the cozy scene between his parents and Marla.
He stayed in the underground parking garage, sitting in his car, waiting.
The butler worked quickly, returning with the investigation results within a few hours.
“Mr. Everhart, everything you requested is here.”
Leander nodded. The butler glanced at him, swallowed the words he wanted to say, and withdrew
Now alone in the car, Leander transferred the files to his phone and watched the surveillance footage of all the previous incidents.
The more he watched, the more shocked he became.
The more he watched, the more furious he became.
The more he watched, the more desperate he became.
Everything that had happened was actually Marla’s own orchestration!
Elara had never harmed her!
He watched the videos of the person being falsely accused, feeling his heart being pierced belatedly. He had actually believed Marla’s words, disappointing Elara again and again.
When the videos finished playing, Leander didn’t even have the courage to watch them a second time. Trembling, he buried his face in his hands.
Elara’s attempts to defend and explain herself… Elara’s disappointed and hurt expressions… Elara’s painful appearance after enduring punishment…
What had he done?!
Leander suddenly punched the steering wheel, then floored the accelerator.
He would never forgive Marla!
