My blood boiled as I sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the blank wall in front of me. Naomi was pregnant. So that’s what it was all about. She didn’t just want Oliver for herself she wanted me gone completely. She’d gone so far as to have me tortured, ensuring I lost the one thing I had been holding onto–my baby.
And Oliver? Drunk and wasted, acting as if he regretted losing me? No. I refused to believe it. He was just feeding his ego, hoping I’d see his despair and come running back to him like I always used to. But not this time. Never again.
I took a deep breath, my hands curling into fists as memories of the past flooded my mind. Back when Oliver was good to me. Back when I truly believed he loved me.
I thought of the day we first moved into our apartment together. It was small and barely furnished, but Oliver had held my hand, his face lit up with excitement. “This is our start,” he’d said, spinning me around in the middle of the empty living room. “Imagine all the memories we’ll make here. One day, we’ll fill this place with love, laughter, and maybe even a little one running around.”
I had laughed, my heart full of hope, as we ate takeout on the floor that night, dreaming about the future we’d build. He had kissed my forehead and told me I was his everything.
I thought of the time we celebrated my birthday. I wasn’t expecting anything big, but Oliver had planned the whole day. He woke me up with breakfast in bed–pancakes shaped like hearts, even if they were a little burnt–and surprised me with tickets to the art gallery I’d been wanting to visit.
“You deserve the world, Hannah,” he’d said, holding my hand as we walked through the exhibits. “And I’ll spend the rest of my life giving it to you.”
For a moment, I had believed him.
And then there was the night we talked about starting a family. It was late, and we were curled up on the couch, a blanket draped over us as a cheesy rom–com played in the background.
“You’d be an amazing mom,” Oliver had said, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “You’d spoil the kid rotten, but they’d grow up with so much love. And I’d be there every step of the way. You, me, and our little family.”
I had smiled, my heart swelling with happiness. “Promise me we’ll always keep this dream alive,” I had whispered.
“I promise,” he had replied, kissing me softly.
But those promises were empty.
I inhaled sharply, forcing the images out of my mind. This wasn’t what I came here for. I was supposed to be moving on, leaving all of this behind.
Reaching for my phone, I opened the dummy account one last time. My finger hovered over the delete button. I stared at it for a moment, thinking about all the pain it had brought me. Then, finally, I hit delete.

Reaching for my phone, I opened the dummy account one last time. My finger hovered over the delete button. I stared at it for a moment, thinking about all the pain it had brought me. Then, finally, I hit delete.

I sat back and closed my All I wanted was to move on. Nothing else mattered now. But deep down, I knew that wasn’t entirely true. I wanted Naomi to pay.
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door opening. I looked up and saw Scott standing there, holding his phone.
“Your mom’s been trying to contact you,” he said, walking over to hand me the phone. “You weren’t answering.”
I grabbed the phone, muttering a quick, “Thanks,” before putting it to my ear.
“Hannah, are you okay?” my mom’s voice came through, full of concern.
“I’m fine, Mom,” I replied, trying to sound steady.
“If you need anything, Scott will be there for you,” she said. “You know he’s always been good to you. Maybe you two can-”
“Mom,” I interrupted, my voice firm. “I just got out of a heartbreak. I’m not thinking about anything like that right now.”
She sighed. “Give Scott a chance, sweetheart. He’s a good man. He cares about you.”
I didn’t respond. My mind wasn’t on Scott or relationships. All I could think about was
Naomi.
“Mom,” I said, changing the subject, “Naomi is pregnant.”
There was a long pause on the other end. “What do you want to do about it?” she asked finally.
I clenched my jaw. “I want her to experience what I experienced,” I said coldly.
“Consider it done,” my mother replied without hesitation.
I hung up, the weight in my chest lifting slightly. For the first time in weeks, I felt like I had some control over my life again.
Meanwhile, at a party across town, Oliver was slumped in a chair, drunk and wasted. His friends surrounded him, laughing and drinking, but he barely noticed them. He kept thinking about Hannah. No matter how much alcohol he consumed, the guilt wouldn’t go
away.
He couldn’t believe how much he regretted everything. He had lost her. He had pushed her away, and because of his actions, he had lost the baby too. The one thing that could have brought them closer was gone forever.
As he sat there, drowning in his misery, Naomi entered the room. Her heels clicked against the floor as she approached him, her expression one of annoyance.
“Why haven’t you been answering my calls?” she demanded, crossing her arms. “I needed
someone to come with me for a check.un”

Naomi.

He sat up, leaning forward slightly. “We’re not keeping that baby,” he said coldly.
Naomi’s jaw dropped, her eyes wide in shock. “What?”
“You heard me,” Oliver said, his tone emotionless. “We’re aborting it.”
