Chapter 9%
I looked up at the gray sky outside the police station.&
“You have no future left.”
After leaving, I pulled out the documents from my bag and slid the divorce agreement from the middle. I dialed my lawyer “Help me process the divorce as quickly as possible.”
I later heard that Hunter wasn’t released until a month had passed.
When he finally walked up to his Rolls–Royce, just as he reached for the handle, someone kicked him hard from the side. “Where did this beggar come from, touching my luxury car?“N
A middle–aged man towered over him, full of arrogance and contempt.
“Who are you? Why do you have the keys to my car? Who gave you permission to touch it?”
Hunter’s face darkened.N
“What do you mean by your car? Are you crazy? This is clearly mine!”
The man gave him a once–over, messy hair, unshaven face and sneered in disgust.}
“What?”
Hunter froze, glaring at the man in disbelief.
“Who sold it to you? This is my car!“}
“Of course, the owner did. I heard her name was Ivy, the woman who went viral recently. The one eight months pregnant in that video.”
The man kicked him a few more times.
“Get lost! You’re just a beggar. Don’t dirty my car. Just looking at you makes it stink. What a curse.“!
Hunter collapsed to the ground, completely drained. He lay there, watching helplessly as the man drove off in what used to be his car. After snapping out of his daze, he struggled to his feet and started frantically calling me.
The line showed disconnected.
He opened WhatsApp and quickly sent a voice message.
“Baby, this is a joke, right? Come back, okay? I’m waiting for you at home.“}]
The second it sent, the screen flashed: This WhatsApp account has been deactivated.”
Hunter stood frozen, stunned in place. He then called Savannah.
As soon as the call went through, he yelled into the phone, his voice full of anger.
“Did you mess with my wife again? Why did she sell my car? Did your family do something to her while I was gone?“!
“Hunter, who do you think you are talking to me like that?“N
Savannah’s voice wasn’t gentle anymore. It was harsh and full of contempt.
“You’re not even the CEO of Harrington Corporation any more. You’re just a piece of trash, not even good enough to shine my shoes. What right do you have to yell at me?”
Hunter froze, his face darkening as anger flared in his eyes.§
“What do you mean I’m not the CEO anymore?”
Savannah laughed, cold and mocking, “Exactly what I said. Don’t tell me a few days in detention fried your brain.“}
A chill crept up Hunter’s spine. A wave of panic began to rise in his chest. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“Harrington Corporation is gone. Bankrupt. Dissolved. There’s nothing left. You might want to stop acting like some big shot, or someone’s gonna beat you down for real.“}
Her voice was full of mockery.§
Hunter froze, his fingers tightening around the phone.
“That’s impossible. I was only locked up for a month. How could Harrington Corporation fall apart so fast? You’re lying!“}
He shouted, completely losing control.
“Lying? I’ve got better things to do. If you don’t believe me, go check the building yourself. See whose name is on the sign now.”
“Savannah used that transfer agreement you signed and sold the whole company for dirt cheap. We all got played by her. Even my mom’s still sitting in a police cell, thanks to her.”
