8 Chapter 8
“Listen, Ms. Winters, every accusation needs evidence. Lagreed to split assets with your son just to get away from him as quickly as possible. If we’re really getting into it, I’ve already gathered proof of your son’s infidelity during our marriage. He’s the one at fault here. Sure, Hendrik and I knew each other in college, but your son knows full well I didn’t like Hendrik back then. Moreover, after graduation, Hendrik went to Silicon Valley to start his business. He only came back yesterday when he heard about my situation. This is our first time seeing each other in four years. You’re slandering us by accusing us of an affair!”
“Ms. Winters, and you too, Dashiell. Scarlett has been more than fair to you both. If you keep harassing her without knowing what’s good for you, I won’t hesitate to use my team of top–notch lawyers to help her sue you. You’ll be left with nothing!”
After saying this, Hendrik looked at me adoringly and chuckled softly.
“Darling, now that you’re single again, I’m officially proposing to you. Will you marry me?”
jI shot Hendrik an exasperated glare, but the onlookers around us started cheering and egging us on
“Miss Huntington! Mr.“With a man as wonderful as Grey, you’ve already missed out on eight years. What are waiting for? Marry him already!”
At that moment, Dashiell lowered his head towards me, his face dark with emotion.

“Scarlett… L… I know I was wrong, I was also fooled by that bitch Vivienne. Please, don’t leave me. We’ve loved each other for eight years, and we’ve built our careers together. Let’s remarry, okay?”
I let out a cold laugh, looking at Dashiell as if he were a joke.
“Dashiell, you treated me so cheaply. Eight years of love meant less to you than a mistress who fooled you with a single sentence. How dare you ask me to remarry you? Where do you get the nerve?”
“Oh yeah, and you kept blaming Scarlett for not being able to have kids, but it turns out you’re the one with weak swimmers. What use does Scarlett have for a drake that can’t lay eggs?”
Hendrik’s words nearly made me burst out laughing. I had no idea this domineering CEO could be so viciously sharp–tongued, but he did have a point.
Mabel, standing nearby, turned livid upon hearing this.
“You Gu! What nonsense are you spouting? Weak sperm doesn’t mean no sperm. My son can still have
children!” “Scarlett, I can have children! I can! If you remarry me, I’ll try my best!”
I stared speechlessly at this mother and son duo with such a low level of awareness. How had I not realized back then that Dashiell’s way of thinking was just like his country bumpkin mother’s?
No wonder Hendrik had repeatedly told me that Dashiell’s poverty wasn’t financial, but of the heart. He said that if T stayed with Dashiell, he would eventually be unfaithful. At the time, I didn’t believe it.
In fact, after being with him, I gradually discovered it myself. These eight years, from college to starting a business together, although Dashiell lived with me in the city, his small–minded farmer mentality was always lurking beneath the surface.
He was not only obsessed with making sure I gave the Frost family a son to inherit the family business, but he also favored boys over girls, saying we could only have boys, not girls.
Even in the early stages of our startup, I was actually the one driving the company’s business. He couldn’t let go of his male ego, and it was always me who actively sought out deals and signed contracts when we went out.
Later, when the company’s business stabilized, he used the excuse that men should work outside while women should stay home, not wanting me to be too tired, to make me a full–time housewife At the time, I was touched by

his thoughtfulness. But looking back now, it was nothing more than his fear that I’d gain too much influence at the company and undermine his authority. Even more, he was afraid I’d find out about the shady things he was up to.
