Now reflecting on It, perhaps the reason he dragged his feet all these years about getting our marriage license and having a wedding ceremony was because he still held out hope for Vivienne deep down.
All that talk about Vivienne’s unexpected pregnancy being just a drunken mistake that any man could make was probably just excuses.
My sudden appearance left both Dashiell and Vivienne stunned. Dashiell Immediately flew into a rage, sneering at me coldly.
“Hah, and here I thought you had some dignity. What, you’re back begging me after just half a day? Get on your knees and beg for forgiveness from me and Vivienne. I don’t mind letting you live in the basement of the mansion!”
“Dashiell, I’m not here to beg for your forgiveness. Ive thought it through I own half of this mansion. As long as we’re not officially divorced, I’m still the lady of this house. If anyone’s getting kicked out, It’s the mistress!”
Dashiell leapt out of bed in an instant.
“Fine, let’s get divorced! First thing tomorrow morning we’ll go to the courthouse and get those divorce papers. But tonight, you’re diot making Vivienne leave!”
“Boo–hoo hoo…Dashiell, Scarlett is right. You’re still legally married. I think I should leave…
Dashiell pulled Vivienne tightly into his arms, comforting her in a soft, gentle voice.
I couldn’t be bothered to argue with this pair of cheaters, especially since Vivienne, that mistress, had already lain in my bed. I couldn’t stand the sight of it anymore.
I turned and went into the guest room, only to find all my belongings haphazardly piled up in there.
I pushed aside the clutter and lay down on the guest room bed. Tears Instantly filled my eyes.
I met Hendrik at our college orientation. Back then, he wore a crisp white shirt with every button fastened right up to the top, exuding an irresistible air of restraint and allure.
When he sat at the piano and played Michael Wong’s “The First Time,” the melodious plano tune merged seamlessly with his graceful, boyish charm.
In that moment, he was radiant, and I saw that same radiance reflected in my eyes as I gazed at him.
I took the initiative to confess my feelings to him. After some hesitation, he finally agreed. Throughout our four years of college, our relationship was quiet but content. We never experienced those passionate, dramatic moments you see in TV dramas. I thought all real–life romances were supposed to be like this.
That is, until after graduation when his pure love, Vivienne, returned from studying abroad. He kept it from me that he was throwing a welcome–back party for her.
It wasn’t until I saw a video posted by a coworker that I witnessed his face glowing with excitement, brimming with passion in front of Vivienne. That’s when I realized: this is what love truly looks like.
In that moment, it dawned on me. What he felt for Vivienne was genuine love. I was merely a consolation prize after his unrequited feelings for her.
The next morning, when he stumbled home drunk, I confronted him in a heated argument, demanding to know if he ever truly loved me.
He remained silent, dropping to his knees before me, swearing he would take responsibility for me for the rest of his life.

After that, we fell back into our previous routine of quiet contentment. Last year, he finally made up his mind and We got our marriage certificate.

I thought he had finally let go of Vivienne. Now I see how naive I truly was.Throughout the night, I couldn’t fall asleep, listening to the intense sounds of activity coming from next door. The following day, with puffy eyes, I went to the registry off
with Dashiell to get our divorce certificate.
Due to the rushed nature of our divorce, we hastily printed the divorce agreement at a copy shop next to the registry office.
Our assets were straightforward to divide. Our shared property included a mansion valued at 10 million dollars, three luxury cars worth a combined one million dollars, and the remaining company shares, which were already predetermined by prior agreements.
