Chapter 9
When Silas arrived in a hurry, he saw Rachel curled up in bed, trembling uncontrollably as if she was terrified to the extreme.
He took two steps forward and sat by the window, pulling Rachel into hist arms. “I’m here. Rachel, don’t be afraid.”
Rachel’s body stiffened, she opened her arms and hugged Silas, resting her face against his chest, murmuring softly, “Silas, don’t leave me.”
Her hand glided up Silas’s back, and as he noticed her touch, hist breathing quickened.
She knew exactly what Silas had done today. She deliberately called him away from Luna to tell her that, between her and Luna, Silas would. always choose himself.
With this in mind, her boneless hand gradually climbed up Silas’s chest, and she tilted her head to kiss his Adam’s apple.
Silas’s breath caught in his throat as he reached out and grabbed the back of Rachel’s head, eagerly kissing her.
In the darkness, only the heavy breathing of two people intertwined.
The two of them tossed and turned in bed for a few hours, and finally fell asleep together, exhausted and tightly embraced.
Silas woke up again, it was already the next morning. The sunlight shone through the crack in the curtains onto the naked bodies of the two people in the room. He looked down at Rachel, who was sleeping in his arms, and for some reason, he suddenly remembered Luna, whom he had left behind.
It seems that he hasn’t properly spent time with the other person for a long time.
Thinking of this, he got out of bed quietly, packed some of Luna’s favorite snacks, and headed straight to the hospital.
He stepped into the hospital, walked up to the service desk and knocked on the counter, saying, “Could you please help me check which ward Luna is in?”
The nurse heard his words, quickly lowered her head and began
searching in the system. Silas leaned against the side, patiently waiting. but in his heart, he was calculating what he would say to Luna when he saw her later.
“Sorry, the nurse’s voice interrupted Silas’s thoughts. “I couldn’t find any record of a Luna checking in the system.”
The nurse looked up at him and asked, “She is not in our hospital, sir. Are you mistaken?”
Silas’s body stiffened, his face changed slightly, unable to help but intensify his tone, saying, “Not there? How is that possible, please check again!”
This hospital had his shares, whether before or after bankruptcy, as long as he went to the hospital, Luna could only come here.
Unless… she never came to the hospital!
The nurse was startled by his tone, she looked carefully at Silas and patiently said. “Sir, there really is no record of a Luna staying here in the system. Would you like to call the patient and see if she is staying at our hospital?”
Silas was reminded by the nurse’s words, he hurriedly took out his phone
and dialed Luna’s number.
He failed to get through to the other party’s number, instead a mechanical female voice came from his phone: “Hello, the number you dialed is out
of service…”
Silas’s brain buzzed, a dial tone? How could that be possible.
His heart suddenly started beating violently, a sense of foreboding washed. over him.
He refused to believe it and dialed Luna’s phone number time and time again, but each time the voice on the other end reminded him that the number he dialed was out of service.
His face turned pale all of a sudden, he staggered back two steps, muttering quietly, “How is this possible…”
Just then, the phone he was holding in his hand suddenly rang with a piercing ringtone. Hope flashed across his face instantly. Without even looking at the number on the screen, he couldn’t wait to answer it.
“Luna. I just knew… But before he could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by the urgent voice of his secretary on the other end of the phone.”
“Mr. Stellon, Nathan held a shareholders‘ meeting, and the total amount of shares in his hands has exceeded the total amount of shares in your hands!”
“Please come back quickly!”
Silas’s blood seemed to almost congeal, as if struck by lightning, standing frozen in disbelief.
