Chapter 4
Luna woke up and found herself in a hospital. Her broken right wrist was carefully bandaged. Just as she tried to move, a face appeared right in
front of her
“Luna, you’re awake!” Silas‘ face lit up with surprise, then quickly turned to regret. “It’s my fault. If I hadn’t left you home alone, those debt. collectors wouldn’t have broken your right hand.”
Luna stared at him, stunned. If she hadn’t heard those words before. passing out, she might have believed his act.
He was the one who had her hand broken, who was he really trying to fool?
Her heart felt like it was being sliced slowly with a dull blade, the pain making it hard to breathe.
Her voice was hoarse as tears slipped from her eyes while staring at Silas. “Silas, is this enough?”
Had she paid enough for the sins he wanted her to bear?
Seeing her like this, Silas felt an inexplicable unease. He suppressed his emotions and tried to comfort her, “Luna, I failed to protect you this time. It won’t happen again.”
He took Luna’s uninjured hand and pressed it to his face. “Please forgive
me.”
Luna closed her eyes, turned away, and didn’t answer. She just said, “I’m tired. Just go.”
Silas wanted to speak, but seeing Luna was clearly unwilling to talk, he just swallowed his words.
“Luna, rest well. I’ll come back later.”
After speaking, he turned and started toward the door.
Just as he reached it, a phone rang urgently.
The voice on the other end was anxious. “Silas, Rachel’s in a serious car accident with heavy bleeding. The blood bank is running low. You need to find someone with Rh–negative blood to donate. If you wait any longer. she won’t survive!”
Silas‘ face went pale. “What?”
His legs weakened, and he grabbed the wall for support, barely keeping himself from collapsing.
“I’m going to find someone right away!”
He hung up hurriedly and was about to leave when something struck him. He turned back and returned to the ward.
Luna heard footsteps approaching but lay still, too exhausted to even speak to Silas anymore.
To her surprise, Silas pulled her from the bed without hesitation.
His voice was urgent, leaving no room for refusal. “Luna, Rachel’s bleeding badly from a car accident. You have Rh–negative blood. You need to donate for her, right now!”
“I’m not going!” Luna snapped, but Silas gripped her wrist tight, she couldn’t break free no matter how hard she tried.
“Luna, you pushed her for no reason before. Now save her life, consider it
making up for it.”
Luna almost laughed in anger. “Silas, my right hand’s broken. Isn’t that enough to make up for it?”
Silas‘ eyes widened. For a moment, he thought Luna might know
something, but he quickly dismissed the idea. He had been careful; there was no way she could know.
He practically dragged Luna toward the door. The needle in her arm was pulled out. blood trickling from the wound.
Even when she was healthy, Luna couldn’t match the strength of a grown. man like Silas, not to mention that she was weak now.
Silas forced her into the blood room, pinning her down as the needle pierced her skin. She watched her blood slowly drain, trapped, and unable to move.
They took a full 800cc, leaving her dizzy and too weak even to be angry.
Just as the needle was pulled out and she tried to stand, a nurse rushed in. “We still need 400cc!”
Silas‘ hands that held her down pressed her back firmly. His eyes turned cold as he told the nurse, “Keep drawing.”
“But…” The nurse was worried. “Something bad will happen to her if we take more.”
Luna’s body, already cold from blood loss, grew even colder. She grabbed Silas tightly and asked slowly, word by word, “If I die from this, you won’t care?”
She saw a flicker of doubt in his eyes, but he quickly softened and gently touched her face. “Luna, I won’t let anything happen to you.
“This is what you owe her.”
He looked at the nurse and said coldly, “Keep drawing. As long as Rachel survives, I’ll take responsibility if anything goes wrong.”
Hearing Silas‘ words, Luna felt as if her heart was being ripped apart and stabbed again and again.
She wanted to escape. but Silas held her tightly. Her body grew colder, her mind faded, and eventually, she couldn’t resist anymore. She completely passed out.
