Chapter 2
The phone rang the next second.
She answered, and a cold voice said, “I’ll buy your shares at market price. As for your demands, I need some time.
“It will be done within a month.”
“Deal!”
After hanging up, Luna sank to the floor, exhausted. Back then, Silas had transferred half his shares to her to prove his love. Since he hadn’t gone bankrupt, those shares were still valid.
Luna knew the gap between her and Silas all too well, and most importantly, he wouldn’t let her go. So, her only option was to turn to his business rival, Nathan Wilson, to restrain him.
Only Nathan had the ability to get her out and make sure Silas could never find her again.
The sound of the door unlocking snapped her back to reality. Silas stepped in.
Seeing Luna sitting on the floor, he froze for a moment, then hurried over to help her up.
“Luna, why are you on the floor? What if you catch a cold?”
He was back in his worn, faded T–shirt and jeans–the bankrupt Silas–but the strong scent of his cologne wouldn’t fade, making Luna dizzy.
After leaning on him to stand, she quickly pulled away and pulled the
divorce agreement from her bag, placing it in front of him.
She pointed to the blank space. “Sign here.”
“What’s this?” Silas took the papers, about to read them when his phone
rang.
Rachel’s voice came through, “Silas, the power’s out here. It’s so dark. I’m scared.”
Silas replied. “I’m on my way.” Without looking, he signed in the blank
space.
He made a quick excuse, “Luna, I’ve got some work to handle.”
Then he hurriedly pushed the door open and left. As the door closed. Luna whispered, “This is the divorce agreement.”
She stuffed the papers into her bag and started packing up her things.
This was the place they moved into after Silas went bankrupt. To save money, they hadn’t bought much, so packing was easy. She tossed what she could, and sold what she could on secondhand sites until the house showed no sign she had ever lived there.
She sent a message to the landlord to cancel the lease, effective at the end. of next month.
After finishing everything, she finally collapsed into bed and slept deeply.
She slept so soundly that when morning came, she got up and went to the living room to find something to eat, only to see two people there.
Rachel sat on the couch, wrapped in Silas‘ jacket.
Seeing her come out, Silas quickly stood and grabbed her hand to explain. “Luna, I ran into her on the street by chance. She had nowhere to

go, so I brought her here.
“She used to work for me. It’s not right for a young girl to be out in the cold like that. Don’t worry. I only have you in my heart. Besides. I’m bankrupt now. she probably doesn’t even like me anymore.
Luna’s hand clenched tightly at her side. her nails digging into her palm, sending sharp pain. She didn’t believe Silas didn’t have another place to stay–so why bring her to this cramped rental house? Was he sure she wouldn’t notice, or was he just looking for excitement?
She lowered her eyes to hide her expression and said coldly. “Suit yourself”
Then she tried to walk away, but Rachel stood up, stepped forward, and grabbed her hand. Wearing a pitiful expression, Rachel said. “Luna. I was young and foolish back then. I’m sorry. Thank you for still taking me in”
Luna didn’t want to get involved and pulled her hand free, ready to walk away. But suddenly, Rachel stumbled backward and crashed into the shelf where she placed the urn.
With a sharp crash, the urn shattered on the floor, scattering ashes everywhere. Luna’s mind went blank. She dropped to her knees, trembling, cupping the ashes in her hands, but they slipped through her fingers no matter how tightly she held them.
Rachel gasped, her voice full of hurt, “Luna, what did I do to offend you? Why did you push me?”
Luna’s hand trembled, then she raised it and slapped Rachel’s face.
