Chapter 10
“What nonsense are you talking about? Without me. Nathan wouldn’t have been able to hold the shareholders‘ meeting!”
Silas’s hand holding the phone gradually tightened, his knuckles turning white. He had absolute controlling power over the Stellon Group, even if Nathan managed to acquire all the shares of the other shareholders, he would not be able to defeat him.
Unless…an incredible idea popped into his mind.
After he married Luna that year, he gave half of his shares to Luna. If Nathan wanted to surpass him, it could only be achieved if Luna sold her own shares
But he quickly dismissed the idea. Luna thought he had gone bankrupt, so how could he possibly know that his shares were still valid and could be sold.
On the other end of the phone, the secretary was still carefully explaining, “It’s true, Mr. Stellon, Nathan holds nearly fifty percent of the shares of the Stellon Group, surpassing you as the largest shareholder of the Stellon Group. You need to come back quickly.”
Silas’s face turned ashen, and he almost squeezed out the words through his teeth: “Wait for me, I’ll be back to the company right away.”
He was anxious in his heart, ran several red lights, and quickly returned to the company’s main building. All the shareholders had already gathered in the top floor conference room. When he pushed open the door and entered, everyone inside looked at him in unison.
Nathan sat in the main seat, raising an eyebrow as he entered. In his
usually cold voice, there was a hint of other emotions. To Silas, it sounded like he was gloating.
“Mr. Stellon, you arrived late, the company has changed ownership.”
He leaned back in his chair, legs crossed, hands folded on the chair, and continued, “Now, the CEO of the company is me!”
Silas walked straight up to Nathan, passing the other shareholders. “Where did you get so many shares from?”
He gritted his teeth and uttered the conjecture he didn’t want to believe. “Was it Luna who sold it to you?”
He stared at Nathan intently, hoping that he would veto his own words.
But he looked at Nathan and nodded, then said decisively, “Yes.”
Silas hesitated for a moment, his suspicions confirmed, but he couldn’t bring himself to believe that Luna would do such a thing.
How could she have sold the shares? When did she realize that the shares under her name were still valid?
He couldn’t wait to find Luna and ask her about it. He didn’t even have time to deal with the change of ownership of the company, he just turned around and ran out.
Nathan looked at his back, a hint of surprise in his eyes. He thought the other party would confront him, but he didn’t expect him to just ask a question and then walk away. The documents in his hand were not able to be handed over, so he handed them to the secretary next to him and instructed, “Take them to Silas’s house!”
Silas was breathing heavily as he made his way back to the house he and Luna had rented after going bankrupt. When he reached the door, he found it wide open.
He rushed in eagerly and shouted loudly. “Luna!”
The person standing in the living room heard a noise, turned to look, but it was not the face Silas had expected.
His expression froze, and he asked, “Landlord? What are you doing here?”
The landlord was a bit confused and asked, “Luna said she wanted to terminate the lease before. Today happens to be the end of the lease term. so I came to collect the keys.”
Looking around, she asked, “Do you still want anything in this room? If not. I’ll just throw it away.”
Silas’s mind went blank, and he almost trembled as he asked in a shaky voice, “When did she say she was moving out?”
“Last month…”
The landlord didn’t listen to what came after. She was going to move out last month? But why, did she already know she was pretending to be poor? And did she know about her relationship with Rachel, but when did she find out?
In the blink of an eye, he remembered something.
That day, he and his friend talked about this matter at the bar. At that time, besides him, there was also a waiter delivering drinks. He only glanced at him hurriedly and felt familiar, but his thoughts were quickly interrupted by Rachel’s phone call.
That waiter was Luna!
His heart ached fiercely, so she made the resolute decision to sell the shares!
He clenched his hands tightly, his fingernails digging into his palms, the pain jolting him awake.
No, he didn’t believe Luna would just leave like that. Maybe she was just angry and wanted to teach him a lesson.
“You can do whatever you want. Silas said, leaving these words behind as he turned and walked away. He had another place in mind, maybe he could find Luna there.”
He stood in front of Luna’s mother’s door, feeling inexplicably afraid. He was afraid to push open the door, and he couldn’t find any trace of Luna.
He took a deep breath, raised his hand to knock on the door, but the door in front of him didn’t open. Instead, the door of the neighbor across the hall opened.
The neighbor poked their head out and asked, “Who are you looking for?”
Silas said nervously, “I looked for Luna.”
“You know that girl, her mother passed away last month, and she sold this house and moved to another place. She doesn’t live here anymore.”
