Chapter 29 – Plottwist
A sharp, piercing scream jolted me awake.
My body felt heavy, my head throbbed, and my limbs felt sluggish as if I had been drugged
Blinking rapidly, my vision cleared, and my breath caught in my throat
Susan lay beside me, writhing in pain, her hands clutching her stomach as blood pooled around her.
Her face was twisted in agony, her mouth open in another scream.
And then I saw it.
The knife in my hand.
Blood–stained. Dripping.
I let out a strangled gasp and immediately dropped it, my heart pounding wildly
“What… what is this?” My voice came out in a shaky whisper.
Susan let out a weak sob, her fingers digging into the grass. “You stabbed me… Rachel… why?”
“No!” I shook my head frantically, taking a shaky step back. “I didn’t— I don’t—”
My hands were covered in blood. My dress was soaked in it.
Panic clawed at my chest. My breathing became erratic. I felt like I was drowning in a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.
The sound of hurried footsteps filled the air, and in seconds, Xavier, Michael, and Maria burst into the garden.
Their eyes widened at the sight before them.
“What the hell is going on?” Michael shouted, rushing forward.
Maria clutched her chest, her face pale. “Oh my God… Susan!”
Xavier’s sharp gaze moved between me and Susan, his expression filled with worry.
“Rachel?”
I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.
Susan let out another cry.
“She–she attacked me!” she gasped, pointing at me with a trembling hand. “She stabbed me!”
“No!” I exclaimed, my voice shaking. “I swear I didn’t do anything! I–I passed out, and when I woke up, it was like this!”
Michael shoved me aside, kneeling beside Susan.
“Hang in there, baby,” he murmured, brushing her hair away from her face.

Rachel? She’s pregnant!”
I flinched. “I didn’t do this! I swear!”
Maria was already dialing 911, her hands trembling as she spoke to the operator.
“We need an ambulance now! There’s been a stabbing.”
I turned desperately to Xavier, tears filling my eyes. “You believe me, don’t you?”
His jaw was clenched, his eyes dark with worry, but then he nodded. “I do.”
Gerald arrived at that moment, his furious gaze locking onto me. “Rachel, how could you? Knowing she’s carrying a child?”
Susan whimpered, clutching Michael’s hand. “She… she wanted to hurt me,” she murmured weakly.
I wanted to scream. To tell them all that this was a setup. But how could I prove it?
Moments later, the ambulance arrived, and the paramedics carefully lifted Susan onto a
stretcher.
Michael turned to me, his face twisted in rage. “If anything happens to her, I swear-”
I couldn’t listen anymore. My whole body trembled as tears streamed down my face. I had never felt so helpless.
Xavier pulled me into his arms, holding me tightly. “I know you didn’t do this,” he whispered. “We’ll figure it out.”

The hospital was cold and sterile, the bright lights making my headache worse.
Xavier held my hand tightly as the doctor ran tests on me.
I sat on the hospital bed, staring at my hands–clean now, but the memory of the blood wouldn’t leave my mind.
When the results came back, the doctor shook his head. “There are no signs of drugs in her system.”
I felt my stomach drop. “Then why did I pass out?”
Xavier’s brows furrowed. “Something isn’t right.”
Before we could say more, Michael stormed into the room, his face red with fury.
“You killed my baby!” he roared.
I flinched. “What?”
Michael pointed a trembling finger at me. “Susan lost the baby. Because of you.”
I felt as if the air had been sucked out of my lungs. “No… that’s not possible.”
“She was pregnant, Rachel!” he bellowed. “And now, because of you, she isn’t anymore!”

Michael’s eyes darkened. “You’re a liar.”
Xavier stepped forward, his voice dangerously calm. “She’s telling the truth. We have proof.”
Michael scoffed. “Oh yeah? Where?”
Xavier turned to me. “I’ll get the doctor who’s been treating Susan.”
Minutes later, Xavier returned, his expression tense. “He’s gone.”
Michael folded his arms, glaring, “Convenient.”
A different doctor stood in his place. “Susan indeed lost the baby due to the knife wound,” the doctor confirmed.
I stared in disbelief. “That’s impossible.”
Xavier’s hands curled into fists. “This is a setup.”
Michael’s face twisted in fury. “You’re both lying.”
Before we could argue further, the door burst open.
Several policemen walked in.
Michael pointed straight at me. “Arrest her.”
