Chapter 11%
Lorenzo’s phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen, then answered.
“Oh, boss.” I purred, dragging out my words. “I think I’m going to collapse. I’m in the hospital. I’m so scared… Can you come for me? Please? I need you.“”
Silence
Then Lorenzo stood. “Where are you?” His voice was sharp, urgent. “I’m coming”
Isabella’s head snapped up. “Lorenzo-“.
But he was already heading for the door.
She scrambled out of bed, grabbing his wrist. “You can’t leave me like this!”
He didn’t even glance at her. He shook off her grip and strode out, leaving her sobbing.
I smirked, watching from the shadows. Then, just as quickly, I disappeared.!!
Game on, Isabella
The door burst open.
Lorenzo stormed into the hospital room I texted him. He was desperate. For me. Aww. Lorenzo, Lorenzo Tsk.”
I lay on the hospital bed, my breathing shallow, skin pale under the artificial glow. The heart monitor beeped steadily beside me, wires attached, an oxygen mask loosely placed over my lips.
A masterpiece.
The doctor I paid had done a wonderful job, setting the perfect scene–an almost tragic moment to tighten the noose around Lorenz
heart!!
“Victoria!”
Lorenzo’s voice was sharp, frantic.
I let my head roll to the side, lashes fluttering weakly. “You came,” I whispered.
He reached my bedside in two strides, hands hovering, afraid I’d shatter..
“Are you okay?”
I exhaled shakily. I don’t… I don’t know I collapsed.”
Pff! I wanted to laugh.
“You should’ve told me you were sick.”
“Would you have cared?“!!
His expression darkened, quilt flickering in those obsidian eyes. “Of course, I would have.”
Liar. I turned away, letting the silence stretch. He wasn’t just worried–he was terrified. Then the door slammed open.
“YOU BITCHI
Isabella.
The funny part? I was only ten rooms away from her
She stormed in, fury dripping from every step. “I knew it. You’re playing him, you manipulative bitch!” She spun to Lorenzo, eyes blazing. “She’s lying! She’s not sick–this is just another stunt to get you to stay with her!”
I gasped softly, pressing a hand to my chest. “1–I don’t understand…” My voice trembled.
Lorenzo tumed to me, his features instantly softening. “Ignore her.”
Isabella’s eyes widened. “Oh my God. You actually believe this?” A bitter laugh. “She’s faking it, Lorenzo. Just like I fake my pr=” His body went rigid. “Just like what?”
Silence &
For a split second, I thought she hit a nerve.
But then-
His voice was lethal. “Get out.”
Isabella flinched, “Lorenzo-“}}
“I said get out.”
His voice dropped, cold and final. I watched her shatter, confidence crumbling under his rejection.
“You’ll regret this,” she whispered. “She’ll ruin you“!!
Lorenzo didn’t even look at her. She let out a choked sob and stormed out, slamming the door behind her. Silence
Lorenzo ran a hand down his face. Tm sorry about that ”
I swallowed hard, eyes shimmering. “You… you really don’t believe her?”
He exhaled, rubbing his temples. “No.”
A shaky breath. Pretending to be overwhelmed. “Thank you.”

He sighed, pushing himself up. “I should get you home.”
I bit my lip. “Will you stay?”
Lorenzo froze. Then, slowly, he sat back down

The night was thick with silence. Lorenzo sat beside my bed, suit slightly rumpled, staring at the wall like he was trapped in a himself.”
Perfect
I shifted slightly, letting the sheets rustle. “You look like you haven’t slept in days.”
A humorless chuckle. “I haven’t.”
“Why?”
His jaw tightened. “I keep thinking about Amara.”
I went still. Swallowed the bile rising in my throat, forcing my expression neutral
Lorenzo exhaled shakily, fingers tightening into the sheets. “Every night, I see her. I hear her cries. I see her blood on my hands.” His voice cracked
“I chose Dante over her
My nails dug into my palms beneath the sheets.
“I should’ve protected her. She was my daughter. My blood.”
I forced myself to stay still. Keep breathing evenly. Don’t react. Because I remembered it all. The night he struck me. His hand connecting with my cheek when I accused him of believing Isabella over me. The sting. The betrayal. How he called me a liar. A whore. How he let my daughter–our daughter–die because he chose Dante.
And now, he was breaking over it? No. He didn’t get to grieve. Didn’t get to regret. Not after everything.
I exhaled softly, letting my fingers graze his wrist, a delicate, fragile touch.
“It wasn’t your fault,” I murmured. Lie &
Lorenzo sucked in a sharp breath, body shuddering. I let my fingers trail up, brushing against his knuckles, his skin burning under my touch. And just like that, his walls crumbled.
He turned to me, eyes dark with something raw–something desperate
“I don’t know why,” he whispered, “but when I’m with you… I can breathe,”
I looked up at him, my expression soft, lips parting slightly. Then I gave him exactly what he needed. A lie wrapped in silk.X
I’m here,” I whispered. “I won’t leave you.”
Lorenzo exhaled, leaning down, forehead resting against mine. He didn’t know it yet. Didn’t know that every moment he fell deeper was another moment closer to his destruction. To my victory.
I closed my eyes. Because when the time came, I would be the one walking away. And this time- I would be the one throwing the divorce papers in his face.”
