Chapter 7
I took two steps back, putting distance between Olivia, Hades, and me.
“The two of you can talk it out. I won’t be joining you,” I said. Just as I turned to leave, I heard Olivia sobbing behind me.
“Cassandra, why are you leaving when I just got here? Are you doing this on purpose? I know you’re still angry at Hades, but
you shouldn’t have left without saying a word.
“Even if you didn’t want to marry him, you could have told him beforehand. Now he’s been humiliated in front of his friends and family!”
I had no interest in her passive–aggressive remarks, so I shot back, “Didn’t I leave my wedding dress for you? Since you’re so obsessed with Hades, you should just marry him instead.
“I’ve already given you such a golden opportunity, so how could you waste it just like that?”
Olivia’s eyes brimmed with tears as she began to sob. “Cassandra, how can you slander me like that? There’s nothing going
on between Hades and me. If I’m the reason you won’t come back, then I promise to leave him and never appear before either
of you again!”
She nearly collapsed into Hades‘ arms from how hard she was crying, and I could feel a headache rising from all the noise.
Seeing that I remained unmoved, Olivia fell to her knees and began to beg.
