No one responded to her. The stillborn baby was taken out by the doctor and thrown into the trash can, with no value at all.
Matt turned and left, he had other things to do and couldn’t stay here forever.
Leah fainted in a sobbing fit, tears streaming down her face. She didn’t even have a chance to look at her child again before being transferred to the basement of the Holloway family immediately after the surgery.
On the other hand, Matt was unable to contact Marissa’s parents, which also meant that the airline could not handle Marissa’s belongings. He once again went to the airport, confirming the relationship between him and Marissa, and successfully obtained a small box containing her ashes.
This shallow and light box was his Marissa.
He brought her back home, contacted the people at the cemetery, and just hung up the phone, his mobile rang again, it was an unfamiliar number. Matt answered.
“Hello, Mr. Matt, this is the courthouse. Your divorce certificate with Ms. Spencer, which was processed a month ago, is ready for pick up whenever you have time.”
The voice of the staff woke him up, reminding him once again that he had no connection with Marissa now, his heart suddenly ached as if it had been pierced by countless needles.
Matt took a few deep breaths before finally speaking, “I understand, I will go later.”

Immediately, the phone hung up. Matt tightly grasped his phone. Not only did Marissa leave him, but their marriage also ended, all of which he had
facilitated.
He really lost this person and could never find them again.
Matt’s eyes were sore. If he had driven Leah away at the first moment, if he had only treated Leah as a tool for having children, if he had not repeatedly listened to his parents, if he had not given Marissa that plane ticket… would they not have ended up in this situation?
The more he thought about the many possibilities of “what if“, the more he felt suffocated, even though he had countless chances to avoid it.
He had the driver drive to the cemetery, where he personally buried the urn in the ground and covered it back up with handfuls of soil.
On the tombstone, Marissa’s smiling face was as beautiful as ever, it was their happiest moment in the past. But how long has it been since he last saw such a radiant smile?
Looking at the face that was so close yet so far away, Matt couldn’t hold back anymore! He knelt in front of Marissa’s grave and cried
uncontrollably.
The heavy rain poured down, covering his voice, mixing tears and rainwater together, soaking his frail body and dampening his inner hope.
Matt knelt in front of Marissa’s grave all night, saying countless words of regret, but he never heard a response from her again.
It was not until dawn that the butler approached, holding an umbrella.
“Mr. Holloway, the old man and woman are both insisting on seeing you, as well as Ms. Jensen, who is not in the best state right now, the butler’s voice was filled with concern. Matt had not rested for several days in a

The man stood up and swayed a bit before he steadied himself.
“I will go to the old house first. I must settle things with them about Marissa, even if it’s my own parents, he said, his eyes flashing with a calm yet deep–seated hatred.”
