Chapter 20
A few days later, Zachary embarked on a journey to Flodino alone.
Trey was not reassured and went along as well.
Throughout the journey, Zachary remained unusually calm. He sat by the window of the plane, his gaze fixed on the endless expanse of clouds outside, yet his eyes were emply.
When Zachary arrived at Flodino, he took a boat
at straight to the place
ne place where Silvia’s sea burial was held
It was a vast expanse of sea, with no one around except for the occasional flying seabird
Zachary stood on the plank, his voice low, “What was the situation at that time?”
Trey stood behind him, his voice tinged with a hint of hesitation, “Mr. Aldrich, do you really want to listen?
Zachary’s gaze fell on the surface of the sea, his voice calm, “Speak,”
Trey took a deep breath and slowly began, “That day, the mortician cremated Ms. Winston’s body according to the ceremony and brought it here. The ashes were scartered in this sea area, and the urn sank underwater. The whole process, was quick and clean. We even heard rare whale songs. The mortician said that Ms. Winston’s soul was pure and would definitely ascend to heaven.”
A hint of amusement flashed in Zachary’s eyes, his voice so soft that it was almost inaudible, “She really had no attachment, not even a trace of ashes left for me.”
Trey’s heart sank suddenly, and a sense of foreboding washed over him. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
In the next two to throw days, Zachary appeared usually calm. He went to many places and saw many sceneries, as it he was really on a vacation.
He stood at the foot of the snowy mountain, looking up at the majestic peak, but his eyes remained empty.
He went to the temple, stood in front of the Buddha statue, and quietly watched the compassionate face, but he never knelt down.
Trey followed behind him, gradually letting go of his worries.
Maybe Zachary was just here to take a look. Maybe he really has moved on
However, on the third evening, Zachary stood on the balcony of the hotel, his gaze fixed on the distant sea, his voice so soft that it was almost inaudible,
Silvia, wait for me.”
Trey stood behind him and heard these words, his heart suddenly tightened. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
The night breeze brushed by, carrying a hint of chill. Zachary’s figure appeared particularly lonely under the moonlight, as if it could vanish into the darkness at any moment.
Trey’s heart grew increasingly uneasy. The calmness of Zachary in the past few days filled him with an inexplicable fear, as if it was the calm before the storm. Charles called one after another, his tone filled with anxiety and urgency, There is so much work at the company, when are you guys coming back? Zachary’s health hasn’t recovered, we can’t delay any longer
Trey held his phone, standing in the hotel corridor, his gaze fixed on Zachary’s closed door, feeling anxious in his heart. He took a deep breath and finally gathered the courage to knock on the door.
“Come in,” Zachary’s voice was calm and indifferent.
Trey pushed open the door and saw Zachary sitting by the window, holding a cup of hot tee, his gaze fixed on the distant sea. His silhouette appeared particularly lonely in the morning light, as if out of sync with the world.
“Mr. Aldrich,” Trey cautiously spoke up, “There is so much work piled up at the company. Do you think we should go back?”
Zachary did not turn back, his voice calm enough to make one’s heart race, “I will go back tomorrow.
Trey was taken aback for a moment, not expecting Zachary to agree so readily. His Inner unease eased slightly, and he quickly nodded, “Alright, I’ll go make the arrangements right away.”
In the evening, Zachary walked out of the hotel alone. Trey wanted to follow, but was gently refused by 2 Zachary, “I want to take a walk alone.”
Trey stood at the hotel entrance, watching Zachary’s figure gradually disappear into the sunset, and that feeling of unease surged up in his heart again. He shook his head, trying to convince himself, Zachary had already agreed to go back, so there shouldn’t be any more trouble.
