I stood up and watched their performance calmly, fearless.
Emanuelle Hill lunged at me but was stopped by the staff. He looked at me with pure greed in his eyes. “Don’t think changing your name means
you can cut ties with me!”
He sat on the floor, throwing a tantrum. “Everyone, come and judge for yourselves! I worked my fingers to the bone to raise her, and now that she’s

in the big city with a rich man, eating and drinking the finest things, she’s abandoned her poor old father! She won’t even support me in my old age!”
Amelia gave Old man Lowell a look. He immediately started shouting. “Pan’er! You’re the wife of our Lowell family! The money you’ve earned all these years is marital property! You have to give us half!”
lan asked, “Do you have a marriage certificate?”
“She was only eighteen when she married into our family. She couldn’t get one then.”
lan laughed. “You have no proof. What do you think this place is? You can’t just show up and claim to be relatives!”
Old man Lowell started screaming obscenities, slinging mud at me. “Pan’er Hill is a common prostitute! She was selling her body in our village since she was a kid, and she came to the capital to keep doing it! You rich bosses must be blind… to fall for a slu-”
I was looking for a weapon. When dealing with scoundrels, actions speak louder than words. I picked up a brick from a flowerbed and weighed it in my hand. Perfect.
Thwack!
Levias, who had been silent until now, lunged forward and punched Old man Lowell in the face.
I had never seen this side of Levias. He was radiating a murderous aura, his eyes like those of a cornered animal. He grabbed Old man Lowell’s collar and punched him again and again, blood flying.
“Ahhhhhh! Stop! Sir, have mercy! Help! He’s going to kill me!”
Everyone was terrified of Levias. He kicked Old man Lowell, sending him flying. Old man Lowell clutched his stomach and vomited a mouthful of blood.
Levias walked over to Emanuelle Hill, grabbed his hair, and slammed his head against the marble floor.
Thump, thump, thump!
Blood poured from Emanuelle Hill’s head. “You dare hit me… I’m your father–in–law!”
“You’ve got the wrong person. She’s not Pan’er Hill. Her name is Lily Hill. She’s the renowned Ms. Hill of this city, a woman you could never hope to reach in your entire life.”
Levias punched Emanuelle Hill in the face, knocking out two of his teeth.
Emanuelle Hill wailed, “Ms. Garcia, you were the one who told us to come! He’s going to kill me, please save me!”
Amelia’s eyes were red. She said, her voice full of resentment, “Levias, you can check. What they’re saying is true! She’s a gold–digger, vain, a pat- hological liar! I don’t understand… what do I lack that she has? Have you forgotten that I was the one who saved you? If I hadn’t paid for your surg- ery, you’d be a deaf man! If I hadn’t stopped Carter from bullying you, you wouldn’t have survived!”
Levias ignored Amelia and Ipoked at Kenson Lowell. The man wet himself in fear. “She’s not my wife! Don’t hit me… don’t hit me!”
Levias wouldn’t deign to hit an idiot. He had his men drag the three of them out.
He lit a cigarette and said with a smile, “Everyone, the party is over. You can all leave now. What happened today was just some riffraff causing trouble. I hope none of you will spread any rumors.”
“Of course, of course…”
The guests departed.
Levias held out his hand to me and called softly, “Come here.”
Heh heh heh. Amelia’s little scheme had failed. Not only was Levias not angry at me for lying to him, he was protecting me. I was the kind of pers- on who, if you give her an inch, will take a mile. I immediately dropped the brick, ran over, and hugged his waist tightly, putting on my best “I’m so fragile” act. “Darling, I was so scared~~”
Amelia looked like she was about to gnash her teeth to dust.
Levias kissed the top of my head. “Don’t be afraid. You have me now. I won’t let them hurt you again.”
He already knew about my past… Of course. If Amelia could find out, he certainly could have. As cautious as he was, he probably did a full backgr-
ound check on me the moment we met.
