Chapter66
So Leland perked up right away and quickly opened the
message from his uncle. What he saw was a big table full of
dishes, all looking and smelling great, with a good mix of meat
and veggies, and still steaming hot.
And then there were also the two words Gustav threw in.
Late night snack.
Leland: “..”
I felt sad, angry, and complicated. I wanted to lose my temper
but couldn’t, mostly because I didn’t dare. Looking back, I even
found it kind of funny and ridiculous.
But before Leland could say anything, his stomach started
growling first.
They even woke up the queen Manya who was sleeping next to
them.
Manya rubbed her eyes and said in confusion, “Leland, what’s
wrong with you? Didn’t you have enough dinner? Should I ask
Alvin to bring some nutrient solution?”
Chapter66
Thinking of the tasteless nutrient solution, Leland was silent for
three seconds, then showed his wife the message he got.
A married couple, you know, they shared good times together,
and when they were hungry… they endured it together.
Manya: “..”
The gentle queen paused for a few seconds and said, “Let the
chef make a few dishes. I haven’t had dinner yet.”
Manya had a lot of good food at the Schrader Restaurant at
noon. She felt she ate too much, so she didn’t have dinner.
I wasn’t really that hungry, but it was all my husband’s fault…
Erwina didn’t know about this. Just because she made a table
full of dishes, Leland and Manya got up in the middle of the
night and had the cooks make food.
After she drank a bowl of warm oatmeal, she finally felt a bit
better.
Erwina looked up and watched the Commander Mullen across from her, who was eating seriously and not saying a word. She tried asking, “Gus, if I ask you to help me check what crime someone committed, would that go against your principles?”
Chapter66
Erwina had wanted to ask about this for a long time, but she
wasn’t that close to Gustav before… Even though they had done exclusive suppressant twice, they were still pretty much
strangers.
Especially since Commander Mullen usually had a cold face, Erwina didn’t dare to bring up too many things with him.
But the vibe was just right tonight, and from the looks of it, it seemed like Commander Mullen was pretty happy with the
food she made?
That’s why Erwina brought it up.
“Are you asking about that Nora thing?”
Erwina was stunned.
It was Victor, who was flying nearby, who couldn’t help but
cover his electronic eye with his mechanical arm.
My master, if you said it like that, wouldn’t Mrs. Mullen know
you’d checked on her?!
So tactful! So tactful!
A super straight guy could end up without a wife!
What a great chance it was to show myself in front of Mrs.
Chapter66
Mullen, but I just messed it up like that!
Victor was kind of tired and didn’t want to fly anymore.
It let go of the robotic arm and carefully looked at Erwina to see
if she was mad.
Erwina wasn’t mad. After spacing out for a few seconds, she just
said, “You checked up on me?”
Because he had looked into Erwina, he started paying attention
to Nora. Otherwise, someone as important as Gustav wouldn’t
have cared about a person who’d been locked up over ten years
ago.
Gustav kept a straight face and nodded.
He gripped the silver spoon handle tightly and quietly looked at
Erwina, while Erwina figured it out in just a few seconds.
Being investigated really sucked.
But if she put herself in their shoes, and she was the one who
got married out of nowhere, she would’ve tried everything to dig up the other person’s whole family history too!
So Erwina didn’t bring it up and just said openly, “Yeah, it’s her. She was my dad’s first love, and she’s Megan’s real mom. Megan
Chapter66
used to be pretty well–behaved, but lately she’s been acting out a
lot. I think it’s got something to do with her mom, Nora. Of
course, Nora got thirty years back then, so even with a reduced
sentence, she shouldn’t be out yet.”
“The most important thing was, I couldn’t find out what crime
Nora committed back then. If she got out, it would definitely
affect my parents‘ marriage.”
After saying everything, Erwina just looked at Gustav openly.
Seeing that she really wasn’t angry, Gustav slowly loosened his
grip on the spoon handle.
Victor, who was really nervous next to me, also let out a sigh of
relief.
Mrs. Mullen really had such a good temper!
Her owner was such a jerk, and she actually didn’t even get
mad?
Such a beautiful and kind little angel!
