They had already been each other’s exclusive suppressant, but Erwina’s ears still got a little hot. Maybe it was this kind of sober flirting that made her heart itch even more.

Erwina left Gustav’s bedroom barefoot and really fast in the end.
Gustav looked at her back, his lips moved a little, but in the end he didn’t say anything.
Erwina first went back to the next room, changed out of her evening dress, and took a shower.
She changed into a comfy beige loungewear set, slipped on her slippers, and then went downstairs to the kitchen.
Everything you could need was in the kitchen, and the fridge was packed with fresh ingredients.
But it was too late now, and even though she was really hungry, Erwina wasn’t planning to make much.
Actually, if it was just her, a bowl of tomato and egg pasta would’ve been enough. But who would’ve thought that she was just being polite, and that Commander Mullen actually agreed right away.
So this late–night snack couldn’t be too casual.
And before, Gustav even said in front of the Schrader family that he had eaten food made by Erwina.

If I didn’t make him a nice big meal, I really wouldn’t have deserved how he stood up for me back then!
Erwina picked the thicker oatmeal porridge as the main dish, but she cooked two flavors.
One was a savory bacon and cheese oatmeal porridge, with bacon bits melting their fat into the porridge and some grated Parmesan cheese on top. The other was a sweet honey berry oatmeal porridge, with blueberries and strawberries swelling up in the soft oats and a spoonful of maple syrup drizzled over. I also baked a small tray of whole wheat scones, which smelled like wheat and had a slightly crispy crust when they just came out of the oven.
The bacon was pan–fried till it sizzled and got crispy, served with diced red and green bell peppers. The oily aroma mixed with the fresh taste of the veggies. The spinach was stir–fried with minced garlic, and the garlic was sauteed in butter till fragrant. The spinach turned out soft and juicy. There was also baked white beans with tomato meat sauce. The ground meat and tomatoes were cooked into a sauce that coated the tender beans, making them savory and flavorful. Last, there was a cold cucumber and tomato salad, sprinkled with black pepper and apple cider vinegar. It was tangy, crunchy, and refreshing, cutting through the richness and boosting the appetite.
Not really a big meal, but for a late–night snack, this was already pretty decent. When the food was almost ready, Erwina told Victor to go call
Gustav down.
And she quickly tidied up the kitchen with the housework robot.
While Erwina was still busy in the kitchen, Gustav had already come downstairs. He calmly walked to the table, then took out his starphone and snapped a few photos of the dishes on the table.

Erwina was done with her work by then. When she walked out of the kitchen, Gustav calmly put away the starphone.

Erwina didn’t notice his little move and smiled lightly, saying, “Thanks for coming to support me today. The opening ceremony went really well, and I was really happy. But it’s pretty late now, so I can’t make too many dishes. Are these okay for you?”
Being able to have such a big late–night snack was already really luxurious.
But Erwina knew, he was Commander Mullen after all, he’d eaten all kinds of good stuff.
Maybe I really didn’t think much of it.
But Gustav looked at the table full of homemade dishes, and under his indifferent, cold eyes, there was a flash of gentleness.
He said, “Okay.”
“Then let’s dig in!” Erwina was already starving. She had used up too much energy today and missed dinner time. She tasted a bit while cooking just now, but it was nowhere near enough.
So she happily dug in. Gustav watched her eat like a little hamster, the corners of his mouth lifting a bit, then he tapped send on the photo he’d just taken.
And I added a sentence.
Gustav: Late night snack.
Leland had already gone to bed, but he woke up in the middle of the night feeling a bit thirsty, so he asked the robot to bring him a glass of warm
water.
