Chapter40
So, those guests who came after hearing its reputation not only got to taste all kinds of delicious food, but also enjoyed the architecture of ancient Earth. These interstellar dollars were definitely well spent.
Erwina walked through the lobby, went down the long hallway, and went straight to the small lounge in the back.
Derrick was sitting in the armchair, drinking tea, and Ethan was sitting on the chair next to him with a man in a white suit, talking about something.
Megan stood quietly by the side and added some tea to their cups from time to time.
The man in the white suit was called Devin Schrader, he was Ethan’s cousin, and also Erwina’s brother–in–law.
Devin was thirty–five this year and still hadn’t gotten married. He was crazy about cooking and got obsessed with studying recipes.
And now, a lot of chefs at the Schrader Restaurant were his students.
Erwina also knew that Devin liked Megan, thought she was smart, and wanted to take her as an apprentice to teach her how to cook.
After all, these past years Megan had been busy building her own. network at the Schrader Restaurant.
An adopted daughter, so proactive, and only her dad Ethan was dumb enough not to see Megan’s ambition.

“Grandpa, Dad, Uncle.” Erwina walked in and greeted the elders politely.
She looked at Megan.
Looking at their faces, I guessed the situation had already been reported.
Sure enough, when Ethan saw her, he frowned and said, “Wina, didn’t I text you and tell you to come right after school? Why are you only getting here now? You said you wanted to be a manager at the branch. If you’re this careless, how can you manage anything?”
Erwina widened her beautiful eyes, “Ah, it was Megan who didn’t wait for me. I had a hard time catching another aircraft to get here.”
Megan immediately said with a wronged tone, “Sis, I went to look for you and asked when your class would be over so we could go together, but you just ignored me, closed the door right in my face, and even hit my nose.”
She rubbed her nose as she spoke, like it really got hurt by the door.
Erwina blinked, “I remember your nose, it’s not fake, right? What, did you bump it or something?”
“…No.”
“Good thing you didn’t fall over. I just thought you’d leave after you finished talking, but I didn’t expect you to still be standing there.”
Megan’s mouth twitched.
Ethan frowned, “Wina, I heard you didn’t come back all night last night, you weren’t in the dorm. Where did you go? You came to Empire University to study, not to mess around!”
Erwina chuckled, “Heh, Megan reported it pretty fast, huh. But are you

sure you want to know where I went last night?”
Megan suddenly felt a little uneasy.
But Devin spoke up next to her, “Wina, what are you doing all secretive? What, is there something going on that us elders can’t know about?”
Derrick didn’t say anything and just sipped his tea slowly.
Erwina looked at them and said naturally, “Oh, I went to the palace to see His Majesty and the Queen yesterday.”
Devin:
Ethan: ?
Megan: !
The three of them shut up successfully, but their expressions were different.
Megan was definitely the unluckiest one.
Erwina walked over to Derrick and said, “Grandpa, His Majesty and the Queen were both really easy to get along with. They even told me, whenever I want to try your cooking again, just let them know.”
One time back then, Leland went to District III to give a speech, and at noon, he had lunch at the Schrader Restaurant. Derrick was the chef then.
Derrick was a bit flattered right away, and he smiled so much his eyes turned into slits.
Sir Schrader sighed, “I didn’t expect His Majesty to still remember me. So, if we’re opening a branch, I guess His Majesty will pay attention to it too. Wina, you’ll be in charge of the opening ceremony for the branch.”

Sir Schrader kept quiet most of the time, but when he spoke, it was final.
It even didn’t give Ethan and Devin a chance to argue back.
If the opening of the branch of the Schrader Restaurant got His Majesty’s attention, then it made perfect sense for Erwina to be in charge.
Devin just cared more about cooking. He said, “Since this is settled, I’ll get the opening day’s menu ready as soon as I can. Meg, come help me pick the menu.”
Although the menu was important too, all of a sudden, it just became something to set off and support Erwina. Megan couldn’t even fake a smile anymore.
But she didn’t want to give up like that.
