Chapter 4 Marriage Application
After Erwina dealt with Della and Juana, another half hour
slipped away. She was running out of time.
The central system needed time to process the marriage
application too.
She looked into Gus‘ big, pretty eyes and asked, “If you marry me, will your family be against it?”
“They wouldn’t dare.”
Erwina smiled. Like when he said he was 40, this sounded tough
at first, but it was actually cute and melted her heart.
He reminded her of the Alaskan malamute she used to have
back on ancient Earth.
She thought of the crowd in the banquet hall. Some were waiting to laugh at her, while others felt sorry for her. A faint
smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.
She reached out to Gus and smiled gently. “Let’s get married.”
A sweet girl in a beautiful white wedding dress was now
reaching out to Gus.

There was something oddly familiar about her, and he felt an inexplicable urge to get close. Without hesitation, he nodded
and opened the QR code for his personal info.
Beep!
They actually scanned each other’s codes successfully!
Erwina breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Gus was an adult, but looking into his somewhat innocent eyes, she felt a pang of guilt.
She began to wonder whether she was deceiving him.
The marriage application had been sent to the central system for review, and there should be a result within an hour.
If Gus regretted it later, she’d do everything she could to dissolve
their marriage.
But if he didn’t, she’d happily take care of him for the rest of his
life!
With such a good–looking and well–behaved boy, she wasn’t
losing out at all.
Erwina glanced at Gus‘ torn black clothes. “Come on, I’ll go find
you a suit.”

Gus got up and took her hand, following her closely, obedient as
could be.
Only then did she realize how tall he was.
Next to the bridal lounge was the groom’s wardrobe. There were eight suits, all tailored to Wynfield’s size.
While helping Gus change, Erwina noticed a cut on his arm. Luckily, it wasn’t deep and had already been treated.
She frowned. “How did you get this? Should I get a doctor to
check it out?”
Gus shook his head. “No, it doesn’t hurt.”
She made sure the cut wasn’t bleeding and was healing before
she let out a sigh of relief.
She decided that after the wedding, she’d find someone to look
into where Gus had come from and why he couldn’t remember
anything.
Erwina picked out a black suit for Gus, its cuffs adorned with
white diamonds that twinkled alongside the ones on her
wedding gown.
To her surprise, although Gus looked quite young, he was

actually taller than Wynfield, who stood over 1.8 méters. The
shirt stretched tight across his broad shoulders, hinting at the
contours of his muscles beneath.
His face was exquisitely handsome, but his body was seriously
impressive.
Erwina looked up and saw Gus staring at her, his fair neck
tinged with a faint blush.
“Is something wrong?”
“I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before.”
Hearing such a cliche pick–up line, one that had already been
considered cheesy back on ancient Earth, Erwina couldn’t help
but chuckle.
“Yeah, maybe we met in a past life.”
Gus frowned, looking a bit puzzled. He believed it might not
have been a past life.
But his jumbled mind stopped him from thinking further. It
gave him a headache whenever he tried.
Though the suit was a bit tight, it still fit. The two of them stood
in front of the mirror, looking like they were made for each

other.
Suddenly, Erwina remembered that her wedding video with
Wynfield was still playing on screens all over the city. Although
they’d be taken down soon, she still found the whole thing
pretty ironic.
Just then, a warm, small hand grasped hers. She turned and met
Gus‘ moist eyes.
“What are you thinking about?”
Erwina smiled, “I was wondering why the central system hasn’t
approved our marriage application yet.”
