Chapter 2 A Cute Boy
The reason Erwina decided to marry Wynfield was quite
understandable.
She had been in a deep sleep for so long that when she finally
woke up, her mind was flooded with memories from ancient
Earth, leaving her a bit out of sync.
Plus, she had just gotten over her illness, so she still felt pretty
weak.
Over the past two years, she had mostly stayed at home, rarely
venturing out except to occasionally browse the internet.
After waking up, she hadn’t interacted with many men outside
her family.
Besides, she and Wynfield had been promised to each other by
their grandpas when they were kids.
They were from families of similar standing and had grown up
together. This year, they got into the Department of Medicine of
the Empire University.
Marriage just seemed like the next logical step.
In the United Empire of Planets (UEP), there was a hard–and–fast rule that every ordinary girl had to be married by the age of 20.
If she wasn’t, the moment the clock struck midnight on her 20th birthday, the central system would assign her a husband as a
“birthday gift.”
The randomness of it was too risky. There was no telling what
kind of husband she’d get.
So, for Erwina, it made more sense to marry Wynfield, someone
she knew inside out.
But at this crucial moment, Megan pulled some tricks and lured Wynfield away, making it impossible for him to marry Erwina.
Erwina sighed. She had known for a while that Megan had her eyes on Wynfield and that he had a thing for Megan, too. They
could’ve just talked it out.
It wasn’t like she was head over heels for Wynfield.
But now, with only a few hours left before midnight, where
was she supposed to find a guy she could live with?
Was she really going to end up with some random guy assigned
by the central system?
Erwina wasn’t about to give up. She lifted her skirt and marched
down the long corridor when something furry darted into her
view.
Clad in her 10–centimeter heels, she clacked back quickly.
Then, she saw a pair of big, wet eyes.
The boy was strikingly handsome, with sharp, chiseled features
and skin so fair it was almost poreless.
His silver–gray hair was a bit tousled at the ends, and his
matching, fluffy ears twitched slightly.
Erwina’s heart skipped a beat.
So adorable! She wanted to reach out and pet him!
Just then, she felt a tickle on the back of her foot. Looking down,
she saw a thick, fluffy, silver–gray tail cautiously brushing
against her foot.

“Who are you?” she asked.
She would definitely remember this good–looking Werebeast if
she had ever seen him before!
But she had lost five years, and after waking up, she had been
holed up for almost two years. So she hadn’t met many non-

related guys.
The boy gently pressed his thin lips together and replied, “My
name is Gus.”
It was clearly a nickname.
Though he was exactly Erwina’s type, she needed to find herself
a groom first.
She had to solve the problem right in front of her before
anything else.
Lifting her dress, she turned to leave, but her calf was hooked
by the fluffy tail.
She looked up and saw the boy’s eyes turning red as he asked,
“Where are you going?”
He was too good–looking and adorable, so Erwina couldn’t bring
herself to lose patience.
She said, “I’m in a hurry. I gotta find a man to get married to. I’ll
come back for you later, okay?”
“No…” The boy bit his lip, looking upset. Tears shimmered in his
eyes, but his fluffy tail stayed stubbornly wrapped around
Erwina’s ankle. “Don’t go, please.”
Erwina pressed her hand to her heart. She couldn’t take it.
Who could walk away from this?
She sighed, trying to sound both serious and a little bit teasing, h serious and a little bit teasing,
“Be good. I really am in a rush. I need to find a groom. If only you
were over twenty… Then you could help me out with this.”
