Erwina sighed.
“Dad, I’m not to be blamed for this. Meg and Wynfield love each other, and I married a stranger for their sake. I get it that others judge me because they don’t know me. But how could you get me wrong? Meg is so pitiful, and I just want her to be with the man she loves. How is that wrong? Some people might laugh at me, but no matter what, I couldn’t bring myself to see Meg lose
her happiness.”

Meanwhile, Derrick shot her a meaningful glance.
After quite a while, Ethan came back to his senses. “Do you
mean this?”

Erwina nodded right away. “Of course. Meg has had feelings for Wynfield for ages. It’s just… she’s been forced to keep them to herself because of my engagement to him. And Wynfield? He
threw caution to the wind and risked everything to save her
when her life was in danger. How is that not true love? I was so
deeply touched by them. That was why I wanted to step out of
their way!”
Ethan bought her excuse. “So, they’re in love with each other?”
“Yes. So, maybe just let Meg marry him. It’ll be good for
everyone. She’ll be happy, and our friendship with the Cowan family can continue. Maybe I’m the only victim… But it’s fine. After all, I’ve always thought of Meg as my real sister.”
Seeing the sincere look on her face, Ethan suddenly felt he had gotten her wrong all this time.
He said, “I’m sorry, Wina. I’ve been wrong about you for so long.
I’ll talk to the Cowan family right now!”
With reddening eyes, she nodded. “Alright. I hate to see our business get jeopardized. Oh, right–Dad, one more thing. Meg can be shy sometimes, and she wouldn’t want me to make any sacrifices for her. I think you should finalize the marriage arrangements before telling her. She’s gonna be so over the
moon.”

Seeing him leave, Erwina wiped away the tears on the corners
of her eyes calmly.
Derrick smiled and teased, “Wina, aren’t you upset at all, giving
Wynfield away?”
She replied, “He’s just a jerk. If he were a decent man, there’s no way I would give him away. But… whether he will marry Megan is still up in the air. Now that the Cowan family has finally got their shot, they won’t let it slip through their fingers so easily. We should make thorough preparations.”
Derrick nodded. “You’re right. Then reach out to that bigshot as
soon as possible.”
After a moment of silence, she said, “Alright.”
