Chapter 16 Thank You
Ayla said, “Commander Mullen’s Smart PC addresses you as Mrs. Mullen, so I address Commander Mullen as your other half. This is automatically set by the system to ensure a hundred
percent accuracy.”
“Change it!” Erwina said firmly. “Call him Commander Mullen.”
“Alright.”
Erwina stared at her starphone, which hadn’t beeped for a long time. Finally, she plucked up her courage and texted Gustav.
“Commander Mullen, I’m sorry for what happened last night.
You helped me, and vice versa. I say we’re even.”
“So, what’s your choice?”
It took him forever before replying to her.
“We’ll talk in person.”
Erwina stared at his reply, feeling quite speechless.
The interstellar era came with cutting–edge technology. Why couldn’t they just text, call, or simply use projection to talk?
Why did they have to meet in person?
She absolutely didn’t want that!
She then texted him several times, but got nothing back.
Looking up, she clearly felt that invisible sword of Damocles
hanging above her head again.
Forget it. After all, he was the commander. Perhaps he was busy
and didn’t have time to reply to her.
After the wedding, Spencer went back to Empire University.
Harry left, too–for his concert, apparently.
As for Megan, after being hospitalized for a few days, she came
home.
Unlike Erwina, whose appearance was sweet and adorable, Megan radiated gentleness. But her firm eyes gave her away, indicating she could endure hardships.
She’d try her best to achieve her goals.
In short, she wasn’t as good–looking as Erwina.
But her acting skills were much better. The second she went back to the Schrader’s villa, she limped toward Erwina’s room and started to shed tears.
“Erwina, I’m so sorry. It was all my fault. Or Wyn could have made it to the wedding.
“Blame me and punish me however you want.
“Erwina, I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I just want you to patch things up with Wyn.
“If you guys don’t work out, I’ll be guilty for the rest of my life.”
Her acting skills were so melodramatic that Erwina couldn’t help but cough a few times. She quickly stepped forward and
helped the limping, sobbing Megan up.
She then said sincerely, “Meg, actually, I wanna thank you.
Thanks to you, I found the love of my life.”
Megan was stunned. “What?”
“You heard me. Wynfield didn’t make it back, so I had to marry someone else. I fell in love with a man at first sight, and we got married,” Erwina smiled shyly in time.
Though a wave of bitterness gripped her heart.
The falling–in–love part was true, but she and Gustav weren’t meant to last.
Seeing the look on Erwina’s face, Megan realized she was telling
the truth and was stunned on the spot.
To strip Erwina of everything, she went so far as to get herself
hurt.
Yet she somehow helped Erwina find her true love?
She said, finding it hard to believe, “Erwina, what are you talking about? Wyn’s the one you have feelings for, right? You’ve been engaged to each other since childhood, and you
grew up together!”
How could Erwina give up without a fight? This didn’t feel like a
victory at all!
Recalling every detail from that night, Erwina said, “My husband’s so good–looking. Literally, he’s the most good–looking person I’ve ever seen. And he loves me so much and says he wants me to have all the best things in the world. Oh, look at me. You aren’t even married. Why am I telling these to you?”
Megan parted her lips but didn’t know what to say.
寒く
Erwina’s words were like a loud slap in her face, mocking her for her failed plan. And all of a sudden, the pain in her fractured
leg seemed to intensify.
She forced a smile. “Erwina, are you sure you’re not gonna

marry Wyn? You do know the marriage alliance benefits our family’s restaurant, right? Aren’t you worried this might affect
our interests?”
