Chapter 15 Your Other Half
The Schrader family ran restaurants, whereas the Cowan
family specialized in logistics.
In the interstellar erá, fresh fruits and vegetables were a rare
luxury. But the Cowan family had connections and guaranteed
ample fresh produce for the Schrader family. In turn, the latter
became one of their major customers. It was a win–win
situation.

It was one important reason the two families had remained
close all those years.
But now, their friendship had a crack because of the marriage
between Wynfield and Erwina.

After some thought, Erwina picked up.
”
Before she could say anything, Wynfield questioned her
sternly, “Wina, why did you marry someone else?”
She let out a cold laugh. “Or what? Being assigned to a stranger?
You stood me up. Do you really think you have the right to
question me?”
It seemed Wynfield’s mood was in turmoil. After quite a while,

he said, his voice thick with suppressed emotion, “I had my
reason. I couldn’t just leave her there to die. Forget it. It was my
fault, not making it back in time. Wina, divorce him. I won’t
think less of you because of this.”
Erwina was shocked.
How shameless!
She immediately retorted, “How can you be so sure that I won’t
think less of you because of this?”
Wynfield was a bit baffled, as he had always assumed their
relationship was solid. He said matter–of–factly, “That man
yesterday he was just some last–minute help, right?”

She didn’t answer. Of course, she wouldn’t tell him Gustav’s real
identity.

Changing the subject, she asked, “Where’s Megan?”
“She came back to District III with me this morning. Wina, I’ll come over to you now. I’ll accompany you to get a divorce, and then we’ll get married.”
“Yeah, right! If you wanna get married, go to Megan. Hey, didn’t you say the call is about my family’s restaurant? You liar. Bye!”

She hung up decisively.
She used to think Wynfield and Megan were having an affair in
secret. If they were true love, she’d give them her blessing.
After all, a jerk and an angelic bitch were perfect for each other.
But Wynfield actually had the audacity to disgust her!
This had to stop now!
Just then, her starphone beeped again.
Furious, she picked up and cursed, “Wynfield, have some
shame! You stood me up for Megan, and now you wanna marry
me? What is it? You wanna marry us both?”
“Who’s gonna marry you both?”
The cold, deep voice that came through stunned Erwina.
The voice sounded vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t quite place
- it.
She glanced at her starphone and saw the name on the screen. It
was Gustav!
She was totally dumbfounded.

“Erwina?”
“Here!” she blurted out instinctively and regretted it right away.
But, on second thought, she had done something far more
regrettable to him.
So, the answer was probably nothing.
Now that she had said it, there was no going back anyway.
Gustav, however, fell silent. He was probably pondering
something or startled by her response.

Bracing herself, she said, “Commander Mullen, I wanna
apologize to you. I was in desperate need to marry someone last
night, and I’m sorry that I offended you somehow. If you’re
upset, we can get a divorce immediately. And I’m happy to make
it up to you. As for your rut…”
In the next second, she heard the dial tone.
She was speechless.
Ayla reminded her considerately, “Ms. Schrader, your other half has hung up.“”
Erwina said expressionlessly, “I know. Wait, what? Your other half?”
