Chapter 5
When I woke up again, several days had passed.
—
The television was flooded with news -Carter had officially announced a partnership with the Lycan king, all based on the silver weapon I had designed.
Everyone in the werewolf realm knew the truth: the Bloodmoon Pack’s Alpha had conquered territory and defeated the rogues because of the weapons crafted by his Luna.
It was also because of these excellent weapons that the Lycan agreed to collaborate with Carter in the first place.
On–screen, Carter smiled brightly as he answered the press.
“Oh, my Luna isn’t feeling well, so she’s not in any condition to appear in public right now.”
The Lycan king looked disappointed. “Alpha, I was hoping to meet the brilliant weapon artisan Theo Montrose’s daughter–your Luna -at the signing ceremony.”
A flicker of awkwardness passed over
“Of course. Don’t worry. You have arter’s face, but he quickly recovered with a smile.
my word–she’ll be there for the contract signing.”
“After all, this moment belongs to both me and my Luna. It’s history in the making.”
I tightened my grip on the contract in hands.
It clearly stated: if Carter and I broke the mate bond, he was legally obligated to return all weapon designs to me, the original imprint holder and rightful creator.
When Carter walked into the ward and saw I was awake, the joy on his face didn’t seem fake.
“Bianca, thank god you’re awake. You scared the hell out of me.
I forced a few tears to fall and asked softly,
S
“I had a dream that we had a baby. Carto

where’s our baby?”
A flicker of guilt crossed his face before he gently comforted me.
“You were severely anemic. The baby didn’t make it.”
“But don’t worry,” he added, “I made a wish with the pearl, remember? We’ll have both a son and a daughter. And we’ll grow old together.”
“So we will definitely have more children.”
I clenched my fists beneath the blanket.
So that was why he thought he could do all this to me recklessly and still get away with it.

He killed my baby. How dare he think that once he turned back, I’d still stand there, ready to have children with him and grow old together?
He handed me a glass of milk and continued,

“You’ve been through so much lately. Daphne is kind–hearted and has agreed that we can put the mating ceremony on hold for now.” A chill crept through my heart.
Breaking the mate bond needed her consent. Holding the ceremony also needed her consent.
I shook my head slowly.
“Carter, losing this baby made me realize you and Daphne were right.”

“Parents should think about their child’s future. That’s only natural.
“If it were me, I wouldn’t want my child being called a bastard either. So I agree to break the mate bond.”
“Anyway, you’re right. The end result is what matters. You said we’ll rebond eventually, so the process doesn’t matter.”
Carter lit up with joy, his voice almost trembling as he probed,
“You’ve probably heard about the deal with the Lycan king. He values loyalty to the mate bond between mates.”
“That’s why… about the contract signing ceremony…”
I looked up with a bright smile.
“Of course I’ll go. You’re doing all this to give our future children a better life, right?”
“But the deadline is today. Let’s sign the bond–breaking deal now. That way, later on, you and Daphne can officially seal the mate bond without complications.”
Overcome with excitement, Carter pulled me into his arms.
“Bianca, you’ve always been so understanding. I didn’t love the wrong person after all.”
He couldn’t wait to sign the bond–breaking deal with me to severe our mate bond completely.
As I held the signed bond–breaking deal in my hands, tears welled in my eyes–not from sorrow, but from overwhelming thrill.
Carter, of course, thought I was heartbroken. He smiled and reassured me.
“Don’t be sad. At the latest, by this time next year, we’ll rebond.”
“You don’t even have to move out. There will always be a room for you in Montrose Gardens.”
I nodded, swallowing the disgust rising in my throat.
The moment he left, I leaned over and vomited everything out.
That night, Daphne posted a message online:
“Call me Luna.”
Attached was a picture of a bond–sealing deal. Carter’s face had been obscured, but I could easily recognize the form instantly.
It was her bond–sealing deal with Carter.
And I laughed until tears ran down my face.
Because Carter’s downfall had finally begun.
