Chapter 4
As soon as I spoke, I pulled out my phone and reported him to the pack enforcers.
Carter froze for a moment, stunned. By the time he snapped out of it, I had already finished giving them the address.
His face twisted in fury.
“Are you insane?!” he roared.
Just before the sirens reached me, darkness swept over my vision. I lost consciousness.
The world fell silent.
I had no idea how much time had passed when the sharp sting of a needle pierced my skin. Pain surged through me, and I wanted to open my eyes, but I couldn’t.
Through the fog, I heard Carter speaking with the pack doctor.
“Alpha, we’ve already drawn 800 milliliters. Should we continue?”
Carter’s voice was flat and emotionless.
“Draw however much Daphne needs.”
The pack doctor hesitated.
“Daphne lost a lot of blood after slitting
wrists. She’ll need at least 1500 milliliters.”
“Then draw the full 1500,” Carter ordered the pack doctor coldly.
“If she hadn’t called the police and scared Daphne into attempting suicide, none of this would’ve happened.”
“She caused the problem. She can pay for it.‘
”
Ilaughed bitterly in my mind. I was clearly the viced yet he twisted everything as if I were the one at fault.
But it didn’t matter. His good days were almost over.
As warm blood drained from my veins, Carter brushed a hand over my furrowed brow and told the pack doctor,
“Give her more sedatives.”
“I want her to wake up thinking this was all just a medical check–up. Make sure her symptoms look like complications from her existing anemia, nothing else.”
The pack doctor nodded nervously, but a second later, he
out a sharp cry.
“Luna’s bleeding from below!”
At the same time, another pack doctor burst into the room, panic in his voice.
“Alpha, we just got the lab results. Luna is twelve weeks pregnant. She’s not eligible to donate blood at all.”
“Forcing blood withdrawal like this could lead to a miscarriage…”
t
He trailed off the moment he saw the blood pooling beneath me.
The room went deathly still.
One of the pack doctors began to sob.
“Alpha, I’m so sorry. This was our mistake…”
After a long silence, Carter finally spoke.

“Remember this: Luna miscarried due to severe anemia. It had nothing to do with the car accident, or the blood draw. Is that clear?”
The pain spread like wildfire, searing through every bone, tearing me apart from the inside out.
My father. My unborn child. Both gone because of him. And still, he tried to cover it all up over and over again.
I fought to sit up, but my body wouldn’t move.
Rage burned in my chest, and the metallic taste surged up my throat, blood spilling past my lips.
The next moment, everything faded into silence once more.
