I remained standing, unmoving.
In the distance, I heard the screech of tires. A chorus of screams followed.
And I knew then it was over.

Chapter 10
By the next day, news of Carter had spread across the entire werewolf realm.
While fleeing the scene, he had run a red light and was struck by a freight truck.
The pack doctors diagnosed him with severe spinal damage. He would be paralyzed for life.
On top of that, he was convicted of treason, conspiracy to commit murder, and obstruction of medical care and sentenced.
Daphne, too, was found guilty of attempted murder. After Carter had kicked her in the stomach, she suffered a miscarriage and heavy internal bleeding. Her uterus was removed. She received a delayed sentence–three months before incarceration.
That day, the skies were brilliantly clear.
I stood before my baby’s grave, and for the first time, let my tears fall without restraint.
“Did you see that, sweetheart?” I whispered, gently tracing the cold surface of the gravestone.
“He lost everything–his wealth, his health, his freedom. All of it.”
A soft breeze stirred the air, brushing against my cheeks like a gentle hand.
It felt like a sign like my baby was there, in spirit, answering me.
Sunlight filtered through the canopy of leaves, casting broken, dappled shadows on the headstone. The warmth of it wasn’t harsh–it felt familiar, like the soft touch of my baby’s tiny hand brushing across my cheek in my memories.
“Is that you, my love?” I murmured. My vision blurred with tears.
The wind swept past again, cooler this time. It lifted a tear from my cheek and carried it away. And in the shimmer of light, I could almost see it—a tiny figure waving goodbye.
So pure.
So beautiful.
“Mommy’s avenged you, baby.” My fingertips trembled as they touched the cold stone again.
“The people who hurt you… they’ve all paid the price.”
I rose to my feet, wiped away the tears on my face, and gave the headstone a soft, genuine smile.
“Mommy’s going to be okay now. I’ll carry my love for you and keep moving forward, bravely.”
The chains of vengeance had finally broken.
The road ahead might be lonely, but it was filled with endless possibility.
And I knew, starting today, I was no longer someone’s mate.
No longer someone’s Luna.
No longer someone’s possession.
I was just me.
A she–wolf who had suffered, but still chose to move forward with courage.
The wind tugged at the hem of my coat, as if nudging me toward the path ahead–a new life waiting to begin.
This chapter of revenge had finally come to an end.
And from this moment on, I would live for myself.
Carrying the memory of my baby, and stepping into a brand–new future.
