Chapter 7
A week later, it was the day when the cooling–off period before divorce ended.
Victor finally could leave, and he began to pack up his luggage.
While Kaleigh was halfway through tidying up, her assistant brought him a couture gown and asked him to attend a banquet at the old mansion.
Looking at that suit, Victor suddenly found it a bit funny.
Legally, their legal relationship has already been terminated, but Kaleigh is still unaware and still allows him to attend as a son–in–law.
Victor initially wanted to refuse, but considering the years of care from Kassandra and the fact that he needed to collect some overseas documents from her, he decided to put on the formal attire and attend the banquet.
In the bustling banquet hall, lights were shining brightly, glasses clinked, and the fragrance of wine overflowed from the clashing glass, drifting among the noisy crowd.
In the center of the crowd, Dorian was being carried by a group of brothers.
“Dorian, Ms. McCann really loved you.”
“Yeah, this ring on your hand was just bought from Sherman Auction, it’s a global limited edition, symbolizing a love that is truly one of a kind in the world. I had heard rumors that a mysterious billionaire had splurged on it, but I never expected it to be Ms. McCann!”
“I can’t believe so many years have passed, and Ms. McCann still hasn’t forgotten about you. I remember when we were in school, she would accompany you to and from school every day. All those gummy candies and chocolates in your desk, she secretly put them in there. I also remember one time when you had a fight and ignored her for several days. She tried countless ways to make it up to you, and one time she even came to me for advice. You have no idea what she looked like back then, her eyes were bloodshot. You ignored her for a few days, but it almost cost her life…”
“Dorian, perhaps no one in this world loves you more than Ms. McCann. When she found out that you had eloped with someone else, she was devastated. Later, when she learned that you were unhappy living abroad, she would secretly fly over every week to see you and buy you gifts to make you happy. Now that you are divorced, I don’t think she is very fond of her current husband either. You two should just be together.”
“Yes, yes, yes! Together! Together!”

Amidst the uproar, Victor stood in the corner, quietly watching the scene.
Listening to others‘ mockery, he recounted how much he used to love someone else’s wife.
“Victor.”
A voice suddenly sounded from behind, pulling his thoughts back.
He turned around and looked at the person who came. He wanted to call out “mom“, but suddenly thought of something and changed his mind. He respectfully called out “aunt“.
Upon hearing this title, Kassandra sighed but didn’t say anything. She simply handed him all the necessary documents for going abroad.
“Victor, I have arranged everything you need for studying abroad. Since the school starts early there, I have also bought the plane ticket for you. We will be taking off in three hours. Is there anything else I can help you with?”
Victor looked at the document in his hand, feeling a great sense of relief.
As he thought about the long–awaited freedom and the brand–new life that was about to come, his hands trembled involuntarily.
Victor took a deep breath to calm his excitement, put the documents into his bag, and shook his head.
“Thank you, Aunt, for helping me with these. I am already very grateful.”
He paused for a moment, then seemed to remember something and whispered, “I have only one small request. If Kaleigh finds out everything later and asks about my whereabouts, please make sure to say that you don’t know.”
He and Kaleigh, they never wanted to see each other again in this lifetime.
Upon hearing this, Kassandra looked at him in astonishment and said, “Didn’t you tell her about your departure?”
What are you talking about?
It is said that when he approached her back then, it was intentional.
Or perhaps it was these five years when he crazily treated her well, not out of love, but merely to repay a debt, merely following Kassandra’s orders, wanting her to forget Dorian and move on from that failed relationship.
Or is it that he wanted to divorce her and go abroad, never to return?

What’s the use of saying it again?
Her beloved has already returned, even if he left, he probably wouldn’t care.
Victor smiled and said, “There was no need for that anymore. I just wanted to leave as soon as possible and avoid any further trouble.”
“What left?”
A female voice suddenly sounded from behind the two, and Victor turned around and collided with Kaleigh’s deep eyes.
His heart trembled slightly, and he opened his mouth to explain something, but he was unsure if she had heard, and how much she had heard.
Fortunately, Kassandra quickly tried to smooth things over and said, “It’s nothing, how did you come over?”
Kaleigh didn’t ask much either, just glanced at the cake on the table and said, “Mom, it’s time for you to go up and cut the cake.”
Kassandra rubbed her head and declined, “I was feeling a bit unwell, so you guys go ahead and cut the cake.”
After saying that, he didn’t look at them anymore and let the servant help him up the stairs.
After watching Kassandra go upstairs, Kaleigh extended her hand towards Victor.
“Let’s go, let’s cut the cake.”
He, however, shook his head and raised his injured hand.
“No, I couldn’t, the injury hasn’t healed yet. You should look for Dorian.”
A hint of surprise flashed in the woman’s eyes, as if she didn’t understand why he said that, and always felt like something had escaped her control.
“Why did you want me to go find him?”
The person who was confused this time became Victor.
Why?
Didn’t she always leave herself behind to go find Dorian?
In the past five years, she traveled to countless countries for Dorian. Now that he is giving her the

opportunity willingly, she has an unbelievable expression on her face.
He smiled slightly and said, “Because you have a good relationship, it’s just cutting a cake, nothing
more.”
Seeing him with a smile on his face, it certainly didn’t look like he was angry. Although she still felt strange, she didn’t say anything more and went straight to Dorian, bending down to whisper a few words in his ear.
Dorian blushed and nodded, but still took her hand and went up to the stage, holding hands together to cut the cake.
In the melodious piano sound, the intimate cuddling of the two people did not resemble cutting a birthday cake.
It was more like cutting a wedding cake.
Halfway through the banquet, some elderly people left early due to their physical condition, leaving only the younger generation behind.
And these younger generations grew up with Kaleigh and Dorian since childhood, so they knew everything about them.
Seeing them like this now, applause erupted instantly.
Even some well–wishers clapped and cheered.
“Give me a kiss!”
“Give me a kiss!”
“Give me a kiss!”
**
Dorian’s face grew redder and redder.
Kaleigh’s earlobes turned slightly red, she didn’t go to kiss Dorian, but she also didn’t stop the crowd from teasing.
Victor didn’t mind. He took out his phone and silently calculated the time he had to leave.
If the flight takes off in three hours, he has to leave now.
But this silent appearance, in the eyes of everyone, became sadness.
