Chapter 4
It seemed that Kaleigh was afraid that Dorian would leave, so she immediately instructed the servants to move his luggage into the largest guest room.
Gabriela immediately turned her head triumphantly to Victor and said, “At this time, what are you still doing here? Go and make dinner. Oh, and by the way, Dorian can’t eat spicy food, so make it
mild.”
In this household, even though there were servants, Victor always cooked by himself.
Just because Kaleigh had high demands and was picky about food, she didn’t want to eat anything
made by Michelin chefs, except for what he made.
No matter how much effort he put into it, Kaleigh would only take a few bites casually.
Occasionally, Gabriela would also come over to eat, but she would always be picky while eating.
At this moment, he shook his head lightly and uttered four words that surprised everyone.
“I couldn’t do it.”
Upon hearing Victor’s refusal, Kaleigh instinctively glanced at him.
In her memory, he never disobeyed the people in their family, but this was the first time he refused.
She was about to speak when Dorian’s eyes suddenly turned red.
“It was my fault. I shouldn’t have moved in, after all, I was just a stranger. It wouldn’t have been
right to ask Mr. Walton to cook for me.”
After speaking, he was about to turn around and go upstairs to pack his luggage, but he was pulled back by Kaleigh from behind.
“It’s none of your business.”
After saying that, she looked at Victor again, her tone slightly gloomy, “Didn’t you say you weren’t angry? What does it mean now?”
Victor lightly raised his hand, with a band–aid on both his index finger and ring finger.
“I got injured, so I couldn’t touch water during this period of time.”
In fact, he was not injured at all. It’s just that the contract had already ended, and he didn’t want to waste his thoughts on Kaleigh anymore. That’s why he deliberately put a few band–aids on his hand, so that he could use the injury as an excuse to refuse to cook.

The atmosphere suddenly became frozen.
In the past, Victor used to take care of all the household chores by himself, so the servants in the villa would leave on time.
Nowadays, besides him, no one else in the family knows how to cook.
Even if we were to call the servant back, it would be too late.
Gabriela frowned unhappily and complained, “Why didn’t you tell us you were injured earlier? Were you intentionally trying to make us go hungry?”
She was about to step forward to accuse, but Dorian quickly grabbed her.
“Gabriela, don’t do this.”
Dorian looked at Kaleigh beside him and said, “Kaleigh, I have been thinking about that fondue restaurant near the high school gate ever since we went abroad. I remember we used to go there often after evening self–study. How about we have fondue tonight?”
Kaleigh, of course, would not refuse Dorian’s request. Her tone was gentle as she said, “Alright, I’ll take you there.”
When the group was leaving, they also took Victor along.
On the way, Kaleigh chatted with the two people in the back seat while driving.
When it comes to their high school days, Dorian becomes more and more cheerful as he talks, while Gabriela occasionally interjects a few words.
Speaking of joy, all three of them couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Halfway through laughing, Dorian suddenly seemed to remember something and looked at Victor, who was sitting in the passenger seat, with a smile. “Mr. Walton, I’m sorry, we didn’t mean to ignore you, it’s just that you weren’t involved in that memory.”
Not only did that memory not participate, but he will also not participate in their future days.
Victor nodded and silently closed his eyes.
Kaleigh glanced at him rarely and inexplicably felt that he seemed to have changed somewhat. After parking the car, Victor made an excuse to go to the restroom first.
He splashed cold water onto his face, filling both hands, and looked up at his reflection in the
mirror.

Delicate facial features, fair skin, but the weariness between the eyebrows cannot be concealed.
In the same five years of marriage, Dorian’s eyes were full of vitality, while he himself appeared exhausted.
Just hold on a little longer, and he would be completely free.
He told himself this way.
After returning to the private room, the three of them had already ordered the dishes.
“The bottom of the pot should be clear soup, Dorian doesn’t eat meat, add more vegetables, except for coriander.”
Kaleigh was looking at the menu while giving instructions to the waiter next to her.
Even after so many years, she still remembered Dorian’s taste so clearly.
“Victor, do you have any dietary restrictions?”
It has been five years, and this is the first time she asked herself about her taste. Victor sat on the other side, took a piece of paper and wiped the tableware in front of him.
“Anything is fine, except for seafood.”
During this hotpot meal, Kaleigh was constantly focused on Dorian next to her. She didn’t eat much but kept serving him food.
Halfway through the meal, there was suddenly a dispute at the next table, which escalated and eventually led to a physical fight.
The guests beside all stepped forward one after another, wanting to intervene.
Surprisingly, one of them, who had a hot temper, suddenly picked up the scalding fondue and threw
it at the other person.
The man quickly dodged.
In the midst of the confusion, the fondue happened to splash towards their table!
Amidst a scream, Kaleigh instinctively shielded Dorian in her arms.
Victor couldn’t dodge in time and watched helplessly as a large pot of scalding hot hotpot broth was poured towards him…
