Chapter 2
“Who were you talking to on the phone?”
Not seeing Victor for a long time, Kaleigh got up and went to the kitchen to find film, only to see him standing there staring blankly at his phone.
He only came to his senses then, calmly saying, “No one.”
In the deep of the night, Victor, with Kaleigh’s shallow breathing beside him, kept his eyes open and stared at the ceiling, sleepless throughout the night.
The next morning, Kaleigh couldn’t help but frown as she looked at the meal in front of her.
“Don’t you know that I hate light food? Why did you make these today?”
He lowered his gaze and picked up a fork to skewer a piece of steak, putting it into his mouth and chewing slowly.
“There was only this left in the refrigerator.”
Actually, there wasn’t any, he just wanted to prepare for studying abroad, so he thought of adapting to the taste in advance.
Fortunately, the woman across from me didn’t think much of it either. She placed her phone on the table, but her gaze was constantly focused, as if she was waiting for someone’s message.
Without asking, he also knew who she was waiting for.
Suddenly, the phone vibrated, and he immediately picked it up.
Dorian seemed to have sent something that made her very happy, and the corners of her usually cold lips slightly curved upwards.
Victor quietly looked at her for a moment before taking out the divorce agreement that he had prepared long ago.
From the moment he signed the contract, he had been preparing for this moment, and now he was finally going to be free.
“Kaleigh, let’s get divorced.”
He spoke calmly, his tone as flat as if he were discussing today’s weather.
Kaleigh was completely absorbed in the conversation with Dorian, and didn’t even hear what he said. She simply replied, “Hmm.”
Victor was not surprised at all, because for the past five years, she had always been like this to him, distant yet close.

Now Dorian has returned to her home country, and she has even taken back the last bit of attention she had for him.
He turned to the last page of the agreement, and handed it to her along with a pen. Pointing to the place for signature, he said, “Sign here.”
“Um.”
She was busy chatting and didn’t even look. She picked up a pen with one hand and signed her name where his finger was, while the other hand continued typing on her phone.
Victor put away the agreement and continued, “Raleigh, after a month of cooling–off period, I’ll leave.”
Kaleigh nodded and then put down her knife and fork, getting up to leave.
Watching her back, Victor couldn’t help but call out to her.
“Kaleigh, do you know what I just said?”
She stopped in her tracks and turned around, looking at him with confusion.
“Isn’t it just about sending supplies to the orphanage? Wasn’t the contract I just signed for that? You mentioned this matter a few days ago, what happened?”
He chuckled self–deprecatingly in his heart, as he had already had her sign the contract for the supplies last month.
She indeed didn’t care about him, and indeed didn’t hear what he said, but it doesn’t matter
anymore.
That’s it.
Kaleigh, from now on, just stay with Dorian and be happy.
So he smiled and said, “It’s nothing.”
In the afternoon, Victor drove and followed the delivery truck to the Orphanage.
After finishing his work, he went to the dean’s office to bid farewell to the dean.
“Dean Mom, I was going abroad for further studies.”
The dean was very happy for him after hearing that. Victor was already a talented student in the art department, and he had regretted giving up going abroad for a long time.
“Victor, this is really great,” the dean exclaimed, shaking his hand with a wide smile. However, he then thought of something, and his face turned worried. “But if you go abroad for further studies, won’t that mean being separated from Kaleigh? Long–distance relationships can be quite

challenging.”
Victor looked at a few children playing and running in the distance, shaking his head.
“It wasn’t a long–distance separation, we got divorced,”
The dean first paused, then let out a long sigh.
“I was right after all. Your marriage wouldn’t last long. If she truly loved you, why hasn’t she come back to be with you all these years? It’s better to get divorced.”
He lovingly patted the person beside him and comforted them softly.
Victor also smiled and hugged the dean back, yeah, it’s good to be away.
