At 6 o’clock in the evening, Victor Walton prepared six dishes and a soup according to Kaleigh
McCann’s taste.
At 7 o’clock in the evening, Victor prepared the bathwater and arranged the roses and
aromatherapy that Kaleigh loved beside it.
At 8 o’clock in the evening, Victor placed Kaleigh’s slippers at the entrance.
At nine o’clock in the evening, the door was pushed open by Kaleigh. Victor stepped forward, taking her coat while placing slippers in front of her. After hanging the coat in the nearby wardrobe, he then asked her whether she wanted to take a shower first or have dinner first.
She looked at her phone and casually said, “I’ll take a shower first.”
The hour hand of the wall clock turned half a circle. Kaleigh, wearing a bathrobe, walked out of the bathroom while drying her hair. Victor quickly handed her pajamas. When she was changing clothes, he went to the kitchen and brought out the freshly cooked meal.
Kaleigh had long been accustomed to everything he did. She was in a good mood today, constantly looking at her phone, as if she was chatting with someone.
He passed by her while setting the tableware, and caught a glimpse of her illuminated phone screen, with the name “Dorian Madden” prominently displayed at the top of the interface.
He casually averted his gaze and turned to the kitchen, when suddenly his phone in his pocket rang.
Victor took out his phone, and the screen displayed “Mrs. McCann“.
The moment the call connected. Kassandra’s voice came through from the other side.
“Victor, are you really getting divorced from Kaleigh?”
Victor looked out of the window, and under the wall lamp, a cluster of night–blooming cereus quietly blossomed.
After a long time, he finally spoke softly, “Mrs. McCann, you know, I was only with her because of
that contract. Now that the contract has expired, and Dorian has also divorced and returned to his
country, she has been very happy lately and no longer needs me.”
Kassandra over there let out a long sigh, her words filled with regret.
“These years have been tough on you, and I know the suffering you have endured. I thought that after all these years, your efforts would make her fall in love with you, but… never mind. Anyway, now that Dorian is back, I’m not worried about her anymore. Five years ago, you gave up studying abroad for Kaleigh. If you still want to go now, I can help you make arrangements.’

For the past five years, his life has been stagnant for Kaleigh, it is time to move on.
So he nodded and said, “Thank you then, please help me arrange it, I want to leave as soon as possible.”
After the phone call ended, the cluster of night–blooming cereus outside the window quietly withered, just like his five–year marriage was also coming to an end.
His family was poor, and it was the McCann Group that sponsored him to continue his studies, enabling him to succeed academically and secure the only scholarship for studying abroad at the school.
Before going abroad, he specifically went to the McCann family to express his gratitude.
The person sponsored by the McCann Group was not the only one, but he was the first to come and express gratitude.
Kassandra, who initially intended to dismiss him with a few casual words, couldn’t help but take a closer look at him and remained silent for a while after hearing his intentions before speaking.
“If you really want to repay me, do me a favor.”
From Kassandra, Victor learned about the story of Kaleigh and Dorian.
Kaleigh and Dorian were both outstanding people. They were born into wealthy families and grew up together as childhood sweethearts.
Everyone could tell that Kaleigh like Dorian, but because Dorian wanted a slow and steady love, she silently guarded him all along.
Finally, after graduating from college, Kaleigh felt that the time had come to confess her feelings. However, Dorian suddenly started dating someone and went abroad with that
person.
She couldn’t believe it, but she rushed to the airport overnight, only to have a car accident halfway there.
And just as she woke up from the surgery, Dorian had already eloped with that person abroad.
Afterwards, she spent her days at home, drinking heavily. A once proud and confident woman was now tormented and unrecognizable.
Just as Victor happened to show up at this moment, Kassandra decided to ask him for help in getting over this relationship.
So, in order to repay the favor, Victor gave up the opportunity to study abroad and signed a five–year contract with Kassandra.

At a banquet, he deliberately bumped into Kaleigh, pretending to be instantly smitten with her, and began relentlessly pursuing her.
From then on, the whole circle knew that there was a man by Kaleigh’s side who loved her madly.
Kaleigh also gradually got used to his kindness towards herself, but she never took that step.
Until that night, she and a few of her besties made a bet on the cruise ship. Whoever’s male companion could jump into the sea and find the ring they had lost would win the piece of land in the north of the city.
Victor knew clearly that she had not slept for several nights in order to secure that piece of land.
When everyone was afraid to retreat because of the huge waves, he jumped into the sea without hesitation.
That was the first time Kaleigh lost control, she tightly held onto him as he was pulled out, her words filled with fear and trembling.
“Victor, let’s get married. I will try to love you.”
But later Victor found out that the night she agreed to marry him was only because Dorian had posted a passionate kiss with his wife under the polar lights on Instagram that day.
Even so, in order to fulfill that agreement and remove Dorian from her heart, he still desperately treated Kaleigh well.
He cooked for her and diligently took care of the household chores. Upon learning that her childhood birthday wish was to see a shooting star, but her parents had never taken her to see one due to their busy work schedules, he spent half a year searching for the best mountain top for observing shooting stars.
But that night, he waited all night, and Kaleigh didn’t show up.
Later, he found out that she had gone to see Dorian.
At that time, Dorian’s marriage had already started to have problems. From that day on, she would go abroad once a week, and each time she would prepare various interesting and novel gifts, which she would deliver to Dorian’s doorstep to please him, without letting him know.
On the day Dorian came back, she had a car accident in order to see him at first sight.
Victor stayed awake all night and watched over her for three days and three nights. She was unconscious and didn’t wake up, but in her dreams, she called out Dorian’s name 999 times.
At that moment, Victor finally understood that he could never accomplish the task given by Kassandra.
The contract happened to expire, and Dorian divorced and returned.

Kaleigh finally got to see her crush, and it was also time for him to leave.
From now on, the two of them could start a new life.
