Chapter 19
As soon as Graysen finished speaking, the noise in the car suddenly quieted down.
Marlene’s mouth hung open in astonishment, “Graysen, what are you talking about? How could I have done such a thing? Don’t talk nonsense!”
“I saw it all. Don’t try to argue!”
Marlene looked at the man’s fierce expression and started crying grievously as she spoke.
“I didn’t… I really didn’t.”
The team member on the side saw Marlene crying sadly and chimed in, asking, “Graysen, could it be that you were mistaken? It doesn’t make sense for her to do that.”
Graysen blurted out, “She had…”
But he couldn’t continue speaking afterward. His gaze fell on Caroline, and he softened his expression as he said gently.
“Caroline, you saw it with your own eyes, didn’t you? Tell the truth. I’ll be your witness.”
All eyes fell on Caroline again, as everyone urged her on.
She slightly curved her lips and said in a lukewarm tone.
“Graysen, what do you want me to say?
“Wasn’t it because you two had argued that Marlene shot at me?”
The team members all knew that Caroline never told lies.
So, as soon as she said this, the team members‘ expressions changed completely.
They were all talking at once, persuading, “Even if you two quarreled with each other, don’t joke
about someone’s life…”
Someone even asked Marlene, “Did you enter through the back door? You’re so disqualified. If you two fight again, are you going to throw grenades at us?
“You quickly applied to return to your home country. Staying with you is just as dangerous as being with a time bomb. You’re even more dangerous than a minefield.”
Marlene panicked when she heard it and instinctively defended herself, “I didn’t… I didn’t.” But no
one paid any attention to her.
The crowd was talking all at once, and their words became increasingly offensive. Marlene’s face turned red with anger as she glared at Caroline as if she wished to swallow the woman in front of her in one gulp.

But Graysen had long been unusually silent.
He did not defend himself but fixed his eyes on Caroline. It was not until just now that he fully understood what it felt like to be betrayed by someone.
But he had no right to complain because he owed her this.
The wound on his arm bled.
The roughly bandaged white cloth was soaked with fresh blood. The car had been running, and when they returned to the base, the sky was gradually getting dark.
Graysen, who had lost a lot of blood, wanted to have a few words alone with Caroline in the excuse
of his wound.
But Caroline just glanced at him impatiently and coldly refused.
“Even if you died in front of me, I wouldn’t spare you a second glance. Don’t bother me anymore.”
Graysen revealed a bitter smile. He never knew that Caroline could be so sharp–tongued.
Her words hurt his heart, causing a trembling pain in him, but he didn’t know what to do with her.
Caroline walked away mercilessly, leaving only Marlene tightly holding onto Graysen from behind. She wanted to send him to the infirmary.
Graysen coldly shouted with a stern face, “Get lost! You wicked woman!
“It was my mistake to have misjudged you!” His face was filled with disgust, and he seemed to be
looking at a filthy bug.
Marlene felt both aggrieved and sad, but seeing him covered in blood, she could only put aside her
pride and send him over first.
Caroline, who was walking ahead, had a hint of mockery at the corner of her mouth.
It turned out that Graysen’s affection was so cheap.
In the past, for the sake of Marlene, he gave her nothing but care and kept all the grievances to
Caroline.
But everything had changed.
When Caroline loved him, he regarded her as insignificant. When she didn’t love him, he cried and
begged her to come back.
Sometimes, men could be really cheap.
When Caroline returned to the dormitory, Beckham had been waiting at the door for a long time.

“Are you injured?” he asked worriedly.
Caroline shook her head and casually replied, “Graysen blocked it.”
“Did Marlene fire the gun?” Beckham’s voice carried a chilling tone.
As soon as Caroline saw his expression, she knew what he wanted to do. She quickly held his hand tightly and advised, “I don’t have enough evidence now. Let’s wait a little longer.”
She gave Beckham a comforting look. As he saw Caroline starting to plan something in her mind, his gaze fell on his wrist that was held by her. Instantly, he forgot his anger.
Even a slight smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. Thinking about the purpose of being here, he put on a serious expression. “Some journalists will come to the base to interview the
achievements of the elites…”
He paused halfway through his words and did not continue.
He didn’t finish speaking but seemed to have said everything with his meaningful gaze.
Caroline suddenly realized what was happening and quickly pulled her hand back, her face turning
red with embarrassment.
Beckham couldn’t move his eyes for a moment.
Caroline coughed a few times before the man finally woke up and said, “If you…‘
Beckham’s words were not finished, and Caroline shook her head.
“I didn’t want to accept the interview. Leave this opportunity to others.”
Beckham nodded and was about to leave when he was called back by Caroline from behind.
He stopped as Caroline lowered her eyes, whispering, “Thank you.”
The next second, she stuffed a package bag in his arms and swiftly slipped into the dormitory,
closing the door with a click.
Looking at the black T–shirt in the package bag, Beckham smiled rarely with his eyebrows and eyes
curved.
