Kevin screamed and scurried away, clutching his head. “Damn it, is this woman crazy?!”
Mark was more rational, trying to calm me down. “Lily, calm down. If you hurt us, you won’t get off easy either. Think about your parents!”
1 snapped back, “You have the nerve to bring up my parents? Haven’t you people pushed me to this point? Don’t worry, we’re family. Even if I cut you, it won’t be a serious charge!”
Brenda shrieked, and Kevin cursed Mark, taking advantage of my distraction to snatch the knife away.
Brenda immediately lunged forward and slapped me across the face. “Marrying you was the worst curse for eight lifetimes! Mark, divorce her now! If we keep a woman like this, we’ll lose our lives sooner or later!”
I tried to fight back, but Mark held me, making me unable to move.
Mark looked at me with disappointment. “Lily, you’re becoming more and more outrageous. I haven’t even brought up how you angered my dad to death a while ago, and now you’ve almost hurt my mom and my brother.”

“My parents raised us two with great difficulty, and Kevin is my own brother. We’re a married couple, we’re a team. It’s only right for you to be filial to my parents and take care of my brother!”
Even though I knew Mark favored his parents, hearing him say it directly still enraged me.
I was about to retort when Brenda interrupted.
“Son, don’t waste words on her. This woman is heartless. Hold her down. I’ll go get the house deed.”
Mark grunted in agreement.
I scoffed. “Mark Miller, you’re truly despicable. Taking my things to give to your family? How low can you get?”

Mark sighed. “Lily, how can you be so cold–hearted? I know you’re an only child, so you can’t understand the bond between siblings. That kind of bond can’t be bought with money.“”
“Then why are you giving him *my* house?!” I retorted, not backing down.

Mark lost his patience. “Lily, my mom’s right. You’re just cold and heartless, only caring about money. After this is over, I’ll teach you a good lesson and make you a proper wife.”

“Too late,” I said, slamming my knee hard into Mark’s groin.
Mark screamed in pain.
He loosened his grip, and I immediately opened the door and ran.
From inside the house, Mark’s pained screams and Kevin’s curses echoed intermittently.
For the next two days, Mark kept sending messages and calling, asking where I was.
I just sent him two words: “Get divorced.”
Mark called me like a maniac, but I kept rejecting his calls.
He sent many messages: “Lily, it’s just a house. You give it to Kevin, and we can earn more money and buy another one later.”
“I won’t make you apologize to my mom. Just come home.”
“Lily Miller, forget it. I’m not divorcing you.”
Looking at those messages, I curled my lips into a sneer.
