Kevin, mentioning the house, slapped his forehead. “Right! Get out your house deed. Since we have time today, let’s go transfer the title. Just so you know, I’m broke, so I’m not paying a cent for the transfer!”
Brenda smoothly chimed in, “Don’t worry, Kevin. Before we came, your brother already said it’s fine. The house will be transferred directly to you. Your brother and sister–in–law will cover the fees. As the eldest sister–in–law, it’s only right for her to take care of you!”
I scoffed. “The eldest sister–in–law is like a mother? His dad is dead, but I remember his mother is still alive! Why do I need to be his mother?”
All three of their faces instantly soured.
Kevin picked up a glass and violently smashed it at my feet. It shattered into a million pieces.
Mark frowned, saying I was being excessive.
But Brenda immediately sat on the floor, weeping dramatically. “Old man, open your eyes and see! Now that you’re gone, we’re helpless orphans and widows being bullied, with no one to stand up for us!”
Brenda’s performance made Mark’s face flush.
He swung his hand at me. “You bitch, is that how a daughter–in–law and sister–in–law talks? Apologize to my mom, now!”
I dodged, using things to block Mark.
Brenda and Kevin watched, clearly enjoying the show.
Kevin even whistled. “Big Brother, she’s too arrogant! Don’t let her off easy. Later, make her get ten thousand dollars from her parents as emotional damages for us!”
Brenda echoed, “And make her parents come here and serve me tea, apologizing for how badly they raised their daughter!”
The moment the words left her mouth, all three of their faces went pale!
I charged out of the kitchen, holding a knife, aiming to chop at them.
