It wasn’t until noon the next day that Olivia woke
- up.
The first thing she did was not to check on Nathan lying beside her, his face equally pale from excessive blood loss.
The first words out of her mouth were about Ethan.
“Is Ethan awake? How is he doing? He’s not trying to kill himself again, is he?”
Seeing Olivia’s anxious state, Nathan, who hadn’t slept all night, nodded and said in a hoarse voice:

“The doctor said he’s fine now. Once he knew you were here, everything was okay.”
Hearing this, Olivia finally smiled genuinely.
But she was still worried and insisted on going to see for herself, despite the nurse’s objections.
In the end, Nathan persuaded her: “I’ll go check on him.”

Seeing Olivia’s disbelieving look, Nathan said: “I think I can convince him not to do anything rash again.”

Olivia stared at him for a long time before finally nodding.
Nathan left the hospital room and headed upstairs.
Because Ethan was staying on the floor above.
Nathan was about to knock and enter when he heard a woman’s soft moans coming from inside.
Through the crack, Nathan saw Ethan, who had been suicidal yesterday, now embracing a strange woman, his hands roaming all over her body as she begged for mercy.
“You ask why I tried to kill myself! Isn’t it because my dear Miss Wang here doesn’t believe I love her and still won’t let me meet her parents? So I had to prove my sincerity through death!”
“Stop touching me! I can’t take it anymore! I believe you now. You were willing to die for me. Once you’re better, I’ll take you to meet my parents right away!”
“Darling, didn’t you say you’d take me to meet your parents? Why did you come alone?”
What? Ethan was going to meet another woman’s parents? The suicide attempt wasn’t for Olivia?
Before Nathan could react, a doctor doing rounds came by and directly pushed open the door, startling the two inside.
Ethan saw Nathan and his face instantly changed.
“Why is it you?”
Nathan didn’t answer, just turned and walked towards the stairs.
Ethan’s face darkened as he chased after him, grabbing Nathan at the stairwell.
“Nathan Xu! Are you planning to go tattle to Olivia?”
Nathan turned around, seeing the panic on Ethan’s face, and said coldly:

“Ethan! If you have other women, why do you keep clinging to Olivia?”
Hearing this, Ethan was only stunned for a moment before laughing triumphantly.
“Why cling to her? I just enjoy having multiple women, basking in their affection for me. I love the feeling of playing them all!”
Seeing Nathan’s angry expression, Ethan sneered, his voice full of pride:
“You think I really had heart problems and that’s why I left Olivia? Let me tell you! That’s not true! I just overslept that day after fooling around with women! I was too lazy to go!”
Seeing him reveal the truth so arrogantly made Nathan even more speechless.
But this silent response only made Ethan more smug.
He looked at the wedding ring on Nathan’s hand.
“Nathan Xu, let me tell you! You’re just my substitute. You really think Olivia still likes you? She’s just afraid of being abandoned by me again! Afraid of being alone! You’re just a cheap toy to fill her emptiness! I’ll tell you this too – now that I’m back, I have no plans to marry her. I just want to play with her. When I get bored, I’ll toss her aside just the same!”
“Nathan Xu! If you get on your knees and beg me now, maybe I’ll let you take over again when I’m done playing. So if you say anything about what happened today, don’t blame me for not giving you that chance!”
Finally, as Ethan’s smug words faded, the anger Nathan had been suppressing for so long exploded.
He couldn’t help but raise his fist and punch Ethan in the face.
But Ethan was about to dodge this blow when suddenly, as if knowing something, he let Nathan’s fist connect, sending him tumbling down the stairs.
Nathan hadn’t understood why Ethan did that when he heard Olivia rushing up the stairs behind him. She slapped Nathan hard across the face.
Then she embraced the bruised Ethan with concern, glaring angrily at Nathan.
“Nathan Xu! I was so blind! How could I have chosen such an untrustworthy man as my husband?! Is this how you said you’d persuade him? He’s already a victim, and you as the beneficiary dare to hurt him so badly?”
Victim?
I’m the beneficiary?
Those words completely choked off anything Nathan wanted to say.
At that moment, Ethan deliberately showed the swollen side of his face, crying pitifully in her arms.
“Olivia, don’t blame Mr. Xu! After all, I’m your ex–boyfriend. It’s normal for him to be suspicious and angry all the time!”
“Forget it! I should just die! As long as you’re happy, I can rest in peace!”
Seeing her expression darken, he knew that anything he said now would be useless.
Nathan turned and walked away, hearing Olivia’s angry shouts behind him.
