Chapter 10
Olivia abandoned Nathan, leaving him alone on the stage with all the guests staring.
The treatment she had endured, Olivia now inflicted on Nathan.
Watching Olivia hurry away without a word of explanation,
Nathan faced the shocked, confused, and even mocking gazes of the crowd as he slowly put down the cake–cutting utensil.
After giving a slight bow to everyone, he turned and left.
Never looking back once.
On the way, Nathan had planned to leave directly, but Olivia kept calling him over and over.
She wanted Nathan to go to the hospital.
Nathan didn’t want to go, but in the end Olivia pleaded with him:
“Nathan! Please! I promise, whatever you want after this, I’ll agree to.“”
Hearing these words, Nathan was momentarily stunned. His fingers gripping the steering wheel suddenly turned white.
“Fine!”
When Nathan arrived, he saw Olivia waiting outside the operating room.
Her clothes were soaked in blood, her face deathly pale as she sat there in a panic.
In their three years of marriage, this was the first time Nathan had seen Olivia in such a disheveled state.
Sophie and a group of people surrounded her, chattering. Olivia held her head in remorse, her tone filled with indescribable pain.
It’s all my fault. I knew he couldn’t handle the shock, I shouldn’t have said those things. I shouldn’t have left him alone. I’ve already been abandoned once, I know how it feels. Why did I leave him again…”
Hearing her words, Nathan stopped in his tracks.
He recalled being left alone on that stage, facing the disdainful gazes and whispers of the crowd.
She knew how that felt, so why did she still abandon him?

And if she shouldn’t have said those things to Ethan, what should she have said?
Olivia, which of your words are actually true?
Nathan didn’t want to think about it further. He walked over alone.
“Su…”
Before he could finish, Sophie saw Nathan and immediately ran over, grabbing his hand and shouting:
“Doctor! The Type A blood is here! Quick, draw from him.”
Nathan was stunned, frowning: “You called me here just to draw blood for Ethan?”
“What else? My sister has already given a lot, but we still need more. You’re the only Type A here, if we don’t draw from you
then…”
Before Sophie could finish, she met Nathan’s cold gaze and trembled slightly.
This was the second time she had seen Nathan look at her like that.
The first time was at the Sullivan mansion when Nathan was selling those items as junk and she mocked him, telling him to
leave.
The second time was now.
Sophie felt a surge of anger. What was Nathan trying to do? Did he not want to stay with the Sullivan family anymore? As a
mere substitute, where did he get the right to have such an attitude?
But before Sophie could reprimand him, the doctor came running over, looking very serious.
“The patient is hemorrhaging severely and needs a blood transfusion immediately. Have you decided who will donate?”
Nathan pulled his hand away from Sophie’s grasp and turned to leave, but was tightly grabbed by a pale, slender hand.
He turned back to see Olivia.
“Nathan! Please! Just this one last time. After this, I promise I’ll be a good wife to you.”
Olivia’s face was deathly pale from giving too much blood.
Drenched in cold sweat, she gripped Nathan’s hand tightly like a lifeline, her eyes full of pleading.
“No…”
Slap! Before Nathan could refuse, Olivia’s hand struck his face, shocking everyone into stunned silence.
Olivia’s pale face was filled with bloodshot eyes as she glared at Nathan.
“Nathan Xu! Haven’t you had enough of being selfish?! You’re my husband, I should be able to rely on you unconditionally at any time! But right now!”
Olivia pointed at the lit operating room, enunciating each word with grief and anger:
12:22 PM
“There’s a life at stake in there! It’s all because of you! Because of your appearance! That’s why he’s like this! So Nathan Xu! You can be selfish any other time, but not now!”
Faced with Olivia’s hysterical expression, in their three years of marriage, this was the first time she had been so angry with
him.
Everyone looked at each other, no one daring to speak.
It’s all because of me?
Nathan wanted to laugh and argue, but in the end, seeing Olivia’s reddened eyes, he nodded.
“Fine! I’ll go!”
Nathan took off his coat and changed into sterile surgical garments before following into the operating room.
As he stepped into the operating room, Nathan looked back to see Olivia repeatedly asking the doctor about Ethan’s condition.
It was only at this moment that Nathan finally understood how foolish that thought had been when he stood up at the wedding.
What nonsense about the latecomer winning, about being able to warm a cold heart.
It was all so absurd.
Love is love, and lack of love is lack of love.
From the very beginning, he had bet wrong.
So now, faced with this completely losing situation, he accepted it.
After who knows how long, the red light above the operating room slowly went out.
The doctor pushed out two people. Everyone tensed up and gathered around.
Upon hearing the doctor say Ethan was fine, Olivia’s heart relaxed and she fainted on the spot.
Everyone rushed to help Olivia up in a panic. The doctor even remarked with emotion:
“They must be husband and wife. A woman who cares so much for her husband – Mr. Fu is truly blessed.”
Throughout it all, Nathan, whom no one had cared about, looked up at the harsh lights overhead and laughed silently to himself.
