Windy leaned closer, speaking in a voice so low only the two of them could hear, each word sharp and clear. “I know you don’t believe me, but I’ll prove it to you. Besides, I have no reason to lie to you.”
Ms. Susan’s pupils contracted. She clearly remembered the video the kidnappers had sent. She had seen it with her own eyes -her daughter stabbed to death and thrown into the sea. There couldn’t be any mistake. Then what was this? A chilling sense of dread washed over her, as if she were being pulled into some giant conspiracy. Yet deep within, a tiny flame of hope flickered stubbornly to life. Maybe her daughter really was still alive.
She reached out and grabbed Windy’s hand tightly, her gaze burning with urgency. If her daughter was truly alive, she would agree to any condition, even give her own life if needed. Staring into the girl’s eyes, eyes far too old and deep for her age, she asked with a trembling voice, “Miss, you know where my daughter is, don’t you? Please tell me. I’ll fulfill whatever promise
you want
It wasn’t a question. It was a certainty.
She didn’t even ask what kind of promise Windy wanted. Just thinking about her daughter, she instinctively chose to believe her.
Her voice grew even more desperate. “If you help me find her, I’ll give you an extra fifty million.”
Windy gently withdrew her hand, patting Ms. Susan’s lightly, her voice calm and steady. “Don’t be in such a rush. We can’t rescue her yet. The timing isn’t right. But don’t worry, she’s not in any immediate danger.”
“What exactly do you mean? First, you tell me you know where my daughter is, then you say I have to wait? You’re playing games. How do you expect me to trust you?” Ms. Susan’s anger flared. Once she heard her daughter might be alive, every second became torture
She couldn’t bear the thought of her child suffering. She couldn’t bear the idea of her lying somewhere, hurt and alone. “If you won’t tell me where she is, believe me, I have plenty of ways to make you talk.”
Her voice was icy cold.
“Oh-“Windy let out a light sound, completely unbothered, infuriating Ms. Susan even more. The girl didn’t seem frightened.
“You know who I am. You know what kind of person I am. I’m not a good person. If it’s for my daughter, I’d kill or burn cities without hesitation. Try me.”
She tried to threaten Windy into giving up Yuna’s location.
Windy’s expression didn’t change. “Have you thought about this? The person who kidnapped your daughter–why did they send you fake evidence to make you believe she was dead? If they could fake her death so convincingly, don’t you think their purpose was more complicated than it seems? And even if you knew where she was, could you really rescue her?”
Seeing Ms. Susan begin to calm down, Windy continued. “The people behind this are far stronger than you imagine. If you act rashly, it’ll be a disaster for everyone. We can’t rush.”
Ms. Susan quickly replayed every detail of Yuna’s kidnapping in her mind. Suddenly, a horrifying possibility struck her.
In an instant, she understood.
There was only one person who would want her to suffer like this for the rest of her life.
It had to be her
There was no one else.
For Yuna, she would do anything.
Windy quietly studied the woman across from her, her heart flashing back to the past. In her previous life, she had met Yuna

a year before the kidnapping
Her meeting with Ms. Susan had been pure coincidence, tied to the Hanson family. The two of them had hit it off instantly Windy had felt real friendship for the woman. Later, after Windy was imprisoned, she learned Ms. Susan had tried to send her supplies through connections–but everything had been intercepted.
Ms. Susan’s complicated entanglement was with Morgan’s uncle, Jack. She had been Jack’s secret woman since she was sixteen Jack had loved her beauty and charm, but it wasn’t real love–just a fleeting infatuation, shallow and cruel. They had been entangled for years until Jack let her go.
But then she got pregnant
Maybe it was fate, because even after taking two rounds of abortion pills, the child survived.
When Yuna turned five, somehow Jack found out about her. He wanted to claim her. Ms. Susan refused.
Six months later. Yuna was kidnapped. The ransom was a billion.
She didn’t have that kind of money. When she had no choice but to ask Jack for help, the kidnappers had already “killed”
Tura
As for how Windy knew Yuna hadn’t really died-
In her previous life, in Mambia, she had met Yuna again.
Yuna had grown, and Windy hadn’t recognized her at first–it was Yuna who recognized her. Children remembered things sharply Even though Windy had been a shadow of her former self by then. Yuna had recognized her immediately.
Yuna had told her everything. She hadn’t died. The video Ms. Susan received had been faked. The blood was pig’s blood. The knife was a retractable prop. It had looked real but didn’t actually stab her.
They had drugged her heavily beforehand, making her look like she was in unbearable pain.
The real mastermind behind the kidnapping was Jack. He had wanted to keep Yana by his side because, even after years of marriage, he had no children.
But unfortunately. Jack’s wife, Lauren, had discovered Yuna’s existence shortly after. Jealous and vicious, she had sold Yuna into the black market
Yuna had been shuffled from one hell to another. Eventually, she was sold into Myanmar.
In Windy’s previous life. Yuna had died before her, tormented beyond recognition. They had even carved open her stomach in front of the others.
Ms. Susan’s ending had been no better. It was said she had been hacked to death on the street
All this, Yuna had once told her back in Mambia.
Windy’s thoughts returned to the present.
She looked at the woman in front of her–still so young, yet already worn by grief and despair. There was no fear of threats in Windy’s eyes. Only cold certainty
“What’s your name?” Ms. Susan asked. She needed to remember this girl. She was the only hope left.
“Windy
Ms. Susan slowly calmed herself. She realized Windy was right. The enemy was hiding too deeply. If she made a wrong move now, it would cost Yuna her life
“When can I see Yuna What do I need to prepare She could only listen to Windy now. She had no confidence facing the monsters on her own

Windy recalled Yuna’s story. The black market auction would be held in March–when it was still cold. If she remembered right, it would be this March.
That would be when Yuna would be sold to some wealthy buyer–to suffer for another two years.
“March eighteenth. I’ll take you. Be ready with the money. You’ll need a lot. Billions, probably”
She couldn’t tell Ms. Susan the full truth yet. If she did, she feared Ms. Susan would act recklessly. And that would alert the enemy and cost Yuna her life.
Windy also needed time–to prepare herself, to retrain her old skills, to make sure nothing went wrong.
“Alright. Don’t worry about the money. I’ll have it ready,” Ms. Susan promised.
The atmosphere in the private room finally eased. They exchanged contact information.
