Chapter 4
Before long, the plane touched down, and Raylan stepped out from the cockpit.
The strong scent of blood in the cabin made him frown right away.
But before he could say a word, Leila threw herself into his arms, wailing, “Ray, help me! Jordyn is trying to kill me!”
The moment I loosened my hold, Raylan kicked me hard, sending me sprawling.
My lower back hit the armrest, and the sharp pain brought tears streaming down my face.
“Jordyn, I told you to come handle the situation, and this is what you do?” he snapped.
Holding my aching waist, I didn’t reply. Instead, I turned to the air marshal in a panic.
“Quickly, open the door and get the child to the medics waiting outside!”
The top priority right now was the child’s safety.
As long as the kid was fine, the innocent flight crew wouldn’t be dragged into the blame.
However, Raylan shouted harshly, “Don’t you dare open that door!”
I shot back, “Raylan, this isn’t the moment to comfort your mistress! If the child’s treatment is delayed, can you deal with the consequences?”

“Don’t open the door without my command, or you’ll all be banned from flying forever!” he roared.
His threat left everyone frozen, too terrified to make a move.
Then he grabbed my chin roughly and ordered, “Jordyn, apologize!”
I glared back at him, my eyes red with rage.
“Raylan, have you lost your mind?”
“You don’t want to apologize, do you? Then we’ll just sit here. If that kid dies, your career as a co–pilot is over!” he threatened sharply, while Leila cowered against his chest and shot me a smug, taunting look.
I forced a cold smile and let out a couple of mocking laughs.
I never thought I’d end up having to bow down to these two scumbags.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Bryan lying motionless in the flight attendant’s arms. I took a deep breath and bowed to Leila.
Before I could stand up straight, Raylan’s harsh voice rang out right above
- me.
“You have to apologize!
“You embarrassed Leila in front of everyone, and you think a simple sorry‘ is enough?”
Seeing my stunned expression, he said confidently, “I’m being lenient enough on you!”
bit down on my tongue, and the metallic taste of blood in my mouth made my hatred for Raylan burn even stronger.
Just then, an announcement came from outside the plane.

“Open the door! We need to get the boy out–now!”
The paramedics had no idea what had just happened inside.
All eyes turned to me. Everyone was waiting.
I swallowed my pride, forced out the words.
“I’m sorry, it was all my fault.”
My voice shook, but I kept my head down.
Raylan beamed, like he’d won some grand battle.
“Everyone remember this,” he announced. “From now on, I stand with Leila. Anyone who crosses her ends up like Jordyn.”
Tears streamed silently down my cheeks.
Leila did her best to fake humility.
“Ray was only joking, Jordyn. You didn’t need to do that. You’re making me feel… bad.”
But before the humiliation could deepen, the cabin door finally opened.
The medics rushed in. And behind them–aviation police.
Their lead officer stepped forward, eyes sharp and cold.
“Leila Gardel. You’ve been reported for smoking on the tarmac, delaying an emergency flight, and interfering with crew operations. You’ll need to come with us.”
Leila’s face turned ghostly white.
“It wasn’t me! It was Jordyn! She’s the one who-”

Raylan stepped forward to back her up.
I raised my phone.
“I filed the report. And I have everything recorded.”
Then I looked him straight in the eye.
“I’m also reporting Captain Raylan Moffett–for abuse of power, crew intimidation, and attempted murder.”
